Kerri this is great news about about your dad. Wow 40 years as an educator that is amazing. I'm just trying to make it to half of that. We are going to have life long struggles but it sounds like you are being proactive. As soon as I drop this lil bundle of mine I will be right there with you all getting back on track. Monica

I certainly have been in that boat!!! Almost a week ago, however, I started drinking two protein shakes a day and eating a light, healthy dinner of 4 oz. lean protein and some veggies. I have two snacks a day of fruit and protein. I put some frozen fruit in the shakes. So far I've lost 9 pounds. Oh, and I'm putting Relive powder and Ennergize in the shakes, which gives me my vitamins I'm needing. I'm feeling pretty good about this -- and thrilled that after more than a year at the same weight, the scales are FINALLY moving again!!! Connie

Hi Fellow Junebugs... Wanted to give you a general update. For those of you who sent your prayers our way for my dad, Thank you!! He went through one round of chemo (4 sessions) and his stage 1 cancer went into remission~ Praise God!!! We are so unbelievably grateful. He is retiring from 40+ years in education in June~ what a celebration for him. He will have checkups every 3 months, and full body scans every year...but we are very, very happy! As for me~ I, like so many others out there am struggling with my weight. I've been very good to take my vits and my calcium and my b12. My exercise has been so-so. My weight, however, has gone from my lovely 164 (lowest) to 179. Yikes!!!! I want to blame the stress of the last few months, but the reality is, I still love to eat sweets and I'm having a hard time not grazing. The one thing I have done is take my protein drink every day. I still am doing my 6. 2 miles, but boy is it harder now! Anyways ~ for all of you who are in the same boat...hang in there. We can do it!!! I've started doing some counseling~ for a lot of reasons, but one of the issues I'm dealing with is the weight. Try to find someone for support, or find it from us, here. I am going to make it a priority to get back on here daily. We're all in the same boat. Hugs, Kerri

I'm with you .... I'm wishing they had removed more intestines. I wish there was some way to have ANOTHER one of these surgeries. You know, if I COULD have taken the weight off by using my willpower I wouldn't have USED the surgery! About March or April of 2007 I went investigating about some type of "help" or additional surgical "second step." I knew I was in trouble when I could eat more than 1 cup of anything at a time... Then when 2 cups became the bare minimum I could eat and be satisfied, I was REALLY worried. You can look at my weight scale. Sugar doesn't bother me, and I wi**** did. Quantity and portion control are my enemy and I wish I could go back to eating the quantity when 1 cup of anything made full. The only words of encouragement I can provide to either you or me... is keep moving. When I stopped going to the spa and running, swimming, and exercising, I gained about 15% of my body weight back! YIKES So I keep a measuring cup hanging up near my plates now.

Topic: Two and 1/2 year post op update.
Well it's been 2 1/2 years and I have accomplished something very unexpected . . . I have grown 1/2 inch taller! I can't decide if the weight was pulling me down or if I am able to stand against the wall closer now that my rear is smaller. Either way, I'm very excited about this new event. To calculate my BMI now puts me in the overweight bracket for the first time in many many years. So many, in fact, that I can't remember the last time I was just overweight. My official BMI is 29.9 which is barely below the BMI of 30 - but even if it's 1/100th of a point, it still makes me only overweight! I have finally reached the weight that my drivers license has said for the past 20 some odd years. To re-cap the past 2 1/2 years: My highest weight was 340 I currently weigh 160 1/2 My new ultimate goal is 116 which is right in the middle of the normal weight range for my new height. As always . . . Take care and God bless ~Abi~

I'm almost 2 years out. I've been reading all of the positive post about how so many of you are at your goal weights. I feel like that fat kid that has even flunked gastric bypass surgery. My start weight was about 380-390 pounds. My lowest weight since surgery is approx 255-260 pounds. Now today I'm at about 275-280 pounds. I haven't been able to loss and keep it off since my one year mark. I'm really scared of gaining the weight back. I do fine with most meals (even though sometimes I can eat quite a bit) but I want to gaze all day. Cookies are my weakness. Nights are the hardest. I really feel out of control just as much as I did at 390 pounds. I can't seem to get a grip. I keep starting and failing...
