Topic: RE: Loose Skin---Is this a myth or not?
Hi Diana My arms, stomach, and back hung before my WLS, so there was no way in heck it would come back with out PS. Some people are giving me flack about the amount of money I'm going to spend - especially since I'm poor, have no college fund for my son, and my car is pretty old. But, I systematically turned my body, on the outside, to how I felt on the inside and feel that I have the right to reverse it. So, PS here I come - $35K and all!! Sharyn

Same as the others for me Ginger. If I have bread, I can only do 1 piece and I fill up fast. That's without crust. Sharyn

Topic: RE: For those of you not at goal yet!!
Hey Wendy girl!! I am right with you and feel your pain. First of all, I have a hard time telling how much I should weigh. My surgical goal is 148, but I think that would be too heavy. My PCP said 145. based on my body fat composition, I came up with 135 (fat free mass is 118.9) However, I wirk out diligently, so this might be higher now. I'm 168 now, so I know I have 30-40 lbs to loose. The plastic surgeon said I probably have 20 lbs in skin, which would still give me another 20 to loose. Weight loss right now is SLOW!!! I was averaging about 3-5 lbs a month with 100+ gms of protein and 40-80 oz of water. The weight loss has picked up a little lately. I track WW points (under 22), protein(over 100), water(over 64), net carbs(less than 50 - but most of the time it's less than 40), and calories (around 1000, but I need to get to 1200 to handle my exercise load). I really think my increased focus on carbs is making the difference right now. That and I think my metabolism has risen from my increased muscle mass. I need to have my bodyfat and RMR retested to confirm. Sorry that was so long - I'm just obssessed with trying to get to goal. I wanted to get their before plastics, but my hernia won't wait. Good luck!! Sharyn

I am right with you. I have 30-40 more to go. I have vowed to start back playing racquetball this week, because I know that I will not be able to reach my goal on just dieting. I have not weighed myself in about 4 weeks. I almost got out the scale this morning, but I am a little afraid I did go out and play softball a couple of weeks ago and was quickly reminded of how out-of-shape I actually am (felt like I wa**** by a truck the next day). I have gone to the batting cage a few times since then (in preparation for a game on the 21st) so I am getting some exercise.

This guy is full of it. Yes skin is a living organ that will heal, but we do not have the ability to regenerate damaged tissue (unless you are a starfish). I do not know about you, but I still have scars from when I was a small child. After 40 years, I am going to go out on a limb and predict that I will always have these scars. Telling someone with severly damaged skin that they can exercise their way back to normal is irresponsible. I would equate this to telling a burn victim that they can exercise their scares away. The ability of skin to recover is directly related to how badly damaged the skin is. The amount of damage that has occured is variable from person to person based on all the reasons previously stated by the other posters (age, genetics, weight gain/loss, etc.). Healthy skin can recover, damaged skin will always be damaged to some degree.

Topic: RE: Poll: How much of a sandwich???
It depends on what's on it. I can eat a whole tuna salad sandwich, but I can maybe eat 2/3 of a deli meat sandwich (the amount of meat usually determines how much I can eat). Sometimes I'll get a 6 inch sub that is loaded with meat and I will be lucky to eat 1/2 (1/2 for lunch, 1/2 for dinner). I try to keep it in perspective. 6 months ago this much food would have made me puke. But 18 months ago I could eat the whole sub, a big bag of chips, a large Pepsi, and still have room for candy bar.
