Hi - you literally are the girl next door as I too live in Chesapeake!  I really need to do something since I've gained and want to get it off too!  How does the pouch test work?  I'll try anything and having someone to be accountable too I'm sure will help.

I am looking for a pouch test buddy to help keep me accountable.  I have gained so much weight and feel so out of control.  Anyone game?

Topic: RE: Procedure on Friday
Well, I had my procedure done and woke to find NO SCLEROTHERAPY. My first thought was what the hell is going on... guess there's nothing wrong and I have just been doing all the wrong things. Boy was I wrong. I went and saw the surgeon yesterday and he informed me part of my pouch has grown or was never removed. I have a "ball" in the upper section of my pouch that holds approx 150 - 200 ml. So this is the explanation for being hungry all the time and the weight gain. He showed it to me on the upper gi and it almost looks as though my stomach had grown back into my pouch. So these are now the options: 1. Do nothing - leeave it all alone and slowly but surly gain the weight back. 2. Do a revision - just remove the "ball" (one staple line - not a severe risk of complications) 3. Redo - redo the whole surgery, make pouch a bit smaller and remove "ball" (3 staple lines and high risk of leakage) 4. Band over Bypass - he isn't sure that would work though because the way the "ball" is, he isn't sure he could get the band over it. So I have opted to do #2. I am now waiting for the insurance assistant (of course is on vacation all week!) to send info to my insurance company and get my approval. Please say a prayer for me that insurance will not give me any hassels over this. I am hoping for a quick approval and surgery soon. Shelley

Topic: Procedure on Friday
Well, I finally got the nerve to go see a new surgeon near me (instead of 4 hrs away where my orignal surgeon was). I went and saw him on Thursday, had an upper GI done on Saturday, and this Friday he will do an endoscope with possible sclerotherapy. He said it's a possibility my opening is too large allowing food to go through the pouch too quickly. He said as long as my pouch is smaller than 50 cc he will do that. IF my pouch is larger than 50 cc he will do a revision. I don't blame my surgery for the failure I have had in any way. I just knew that it was time to get back to a surgeon and see if there was any help he could give me. Hope everyone is doing well. Just wanted to give a little update on me! Shelley

Topic: RE: My 3rd Year Anniversary - Yesterday
Hi Lucy, I hope all is going well for you. I truly believe you will make it. I gained about thirty pounds and am trying to grt back on track, I did well on a cruise that I recently took with my family, my Mom and my in-laws. We had a great time until my Mom fell in Cozumel and broke her hip. She and I were medivaced to Palwaukee ad then taken to Rush North Shore. We got to the hospital at 7 in the morning and she had surgery at 9:30 to put 3 pins in. She is in rehab at the Whitehall and is doing quite well. The surgery was two weeks ago yesterday. Beth and her husband made all the arrangements for this. In the meantime, Iam trying to get back into an everyday routine of going to the health club. I have about 6 weeks more before school starts and I am trying to make the most of it. I'm sending my son Joey off to Univ of Iowa in 6 weeks also. We both need to keep thinking about where we started and it is still a positive thing even if we are not pleased right now. We won't ever go back to where we were, especially you. I am going back this week and start the 5 day pouch test to see if I can get back a little bit. I also am working hard to get my vitamins and calcium back on track. Take care and best wishes. Aleece

Topic: RE: I want to try the lapband...should I?
you HAVE the only tool you need. YOU just need to go back and "read the instruction manual" ..if you "know that im not doing what im supposed to do" then you need to take control and DO WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO DO... why would you even consider putting yourself through another surgery when you have all the supplies you need right inside??! i am 3.5 years out and have also gained 30# ..i had life changes, stress and NOT DOING WHAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DOING that contributed to the regain...in the last month, i have just made up my mind to get these extra pounds off ... i lurked around this site for a couple weeks before seeing a post about the 5 Day Pouch Test.......this ended up being a great thing for me ..it really worked..made me see that i had "forgotten" the rules ..it helped me cut the carb cravings ..and has continued to ..i did the 5DPT the week of 6/17-6/21 and then again last week 6/30-7/4..ive been ADDICTED to Mcd's Sweet Tea for a year and a half and ive not wanted any since doing the 5DPT, in the time i was doing the 5dpt and RE-TRAINING my brain and getting back to the basics...i also experienced an 11# loss...if you'd like to know more on how it worked for me ...just message RULES THAT I FORGOT: 1. PROTEIN AND SUPPLEMENTS 2. EXERCISE 3. 30 MIN RULE (no liquids 30 min before or after eating) 4. DRINK YOUR WATER (atleast 64oz/per) 5. LISTEN to your pouch ..COMMUNICATE with it. it will tell you what it needs to. www.5daypouchtest.com there are things you can do before you decide putting yourself through another surgery.

Topic: I want to try the lapband...should I?
I had the RNY Gastric bypass 3 years ago, since i've lost about 100 lbs but gained back about 35-40. i'm scared to get on the scale and my clothes don't fit at all. i've had to buy almost a whole new wardrobe. i try to put on a good face but i know that i'm not doing what i'm supposed to do. old habits are creeping back and i can't seem to stop it. what to do? i've thought about having the surgery again but don't want to go through all that...i'm considering the lapband but not sure. I don't know what to do. i haven't contacted a surgeon yet, i'm just running some ideas across to some folks who know first hand what i'm going through... HELP!!!

Topic: Three Years Out and band slipped
Have any of you had your band slip? I was loving life losing 80 pounds over the course of three years. A few months ago my weight started falling and I lost additional 15 pounds. I have always thrown up after I ate too much, but I wasn't even hungry...I went to my doctor , he asked me some questions and said he didn't think it was anything to be concerned about to come back in 6 weeks. I didn't keep my appointment 6 weeks later, but I started throwing up more and more. Last Friday I called my doctor after throwing up water, he got me in to see him within 45 minutes. My band had slipped he did surgery within 6 hours and removed it. The band had imbedded in my stomach he could not replace it. I am okay without my band and won't mind if I gain 15 or 20 pounds, but I am really scared I will gain the 95 pounds back I was so proud of losing. Have any of you experienced this? Did you gain your weight back? If I get the band replaced it will self pay this time; however, will pay in a heartbeat if I need too.
