Day 2 update
I had my arm lift, augmentation and brachioplasty yesterday! Had to be there at 615 - went into the OR at 730 and came out at 1130. Stayed in recovery until 3 and went home. I had a hard time in recovery with nausea and feeling like I was going to violently hurl - so that prevented them from giving me pain medication. I got two doses of morphine when I first came out - then the nausea hit - so I couldn't have more until it subsided. Once we switched to percocet, I was fine.
I learned where they put the IV when you are having your arms done!! They start out with one in the hand, and once you are out under general anesthia, they put another in my neck! (I asked about it before going in) I told the surgeon "Thank you for doing that while I'm not in the room"
I just love Dr. C. When he came in, he asked if I had any questions or concerns or anything else I wanted to talk with him about. So I told him that it really matters to me to get the smallest arms I can out of this, even if it means an additional scar in the armpit. He promised me he would do his very best to remove as much as he SAFELY could. He studied me very diligently and moved my skin this way and that - and made his markings. he told my hubby that he felt this was one of his best works. He was able to pull up the tummy skin some and to pull the side skin (bra overhang) to make a really nice firm appearance. He also said that he really thinks I am going to love how small my arms are. He was also very pleased with the breast work. He said the size i picked worked perfectly and looks very natural and proportionate.
I haven't been able to see any of it yet. Everything is all wrapped up and the bandages don't come off until Monday, when I get my first peek. I've let the pain medication wear off two times now and it is not too bad. I'm just really sore like i overdid it at the gym - BUT both times I let the pain medication wear off, my teeth started chattering and I began to shiver a lot....so i'm thinking I should continue to take it for today and see if I can handle switching to tylenol tomorrow.
I am so happy to have made to this point and anxious to see what the results are.
Swelling is not too bad, I've been keeping my arms propped on pillows - i weighed exactly 10 pounds more when I got home though - so there is definitely some swelling going on even if i can't see it that well. Oh, I don't have any drains either.
Day 2 - I'm still 10 pounds heavier. The discomfort is worse. Where I felt like I just overdid it at the gym before, I can feel the incisions in my arms aching. My breasts don't hurt at all. I can tell that the area above my breasts is swollen - I can feel that I have some swelling in my armpit area. I have a bunch of padding and a tight bra on and under that (around my ribs) is another binder that ends where my bottom rib ends. The entire tummy below that binder to my cooch is swelled up and tight this morning. But still, only 10 pounds heavier. I hope it doesn't swell anymore than it has. It's freaky looking - like I'm preggo!
I have percocet, valium, stool softeners, anti-biotic and anti-nausea pills. I have to crush the percocet because they are so large around. I haven't taken the valium yet - don't need it yet (it's for muscle spasms and insomnia). I had to swallow the anti-biotic whole since it's a capsule with NASTY powder in it. I was really scared to do it - cuz it's so huge. But I don't want an infection - so I am taking it. So far, so good.
I know I'm forgetting to tell you some stuff - but I'm just so groggy. I'll try to fill in blanks as i go along. I welcome any and all questions. We took some pics with me all bandaged up and will get more taken on Monday when they upwrap me. I'll post them after Monday.
Thanks everyone for being so supportive throughout this journey and for sharing all of your experiences.
I love you all,
Pam
