6 Month Stall
Hi, folks--
I just wanted to say thanks for your help on this board. I had stalled at about 6 months out, and my surgeon had me thinking I was totally messing up somehow. When I checked here, I saw that others in our surgery date were having the same problem.
I decided to really start paying attention to my intake, vitamins, and exercise routine, and sure enough the weight loss has restarted. Much slower, to be sure, but it's happening.
Your examples and encouragement have really helped me. I know we can "outeat" our surgery, so tracking my intake has been a big help. The exercise (walking and then starting at Bally's Fitness Center) has also been a big plus in my progress.
How can I tell? I'm below 250# for the first time in 20 years!!!
Thanks to everyone on this board.

Thanks, Monica--
I found when I started tracking my intake that I was too low in my calories, and just barely at my minimum protein intake. Once I started keeping my intake at 80+ protein and 1000 calories daily, that's when my weight started to move downward again. But the exercise is the key for me.
Also, I just have to totally delete any white foods. The carbs are so addictive for me that even if I only do a little bit of crackers, etc., I find myself craving more. I have tried whole wheat and very high-density low glycemic value, types of crackers, but still get the same "addiction" reaction. That's the last thing I need! My doctor wants me to include more high density carbs in my diet, so I'm adding apples, salads, etc., which doesn't seem to have the same reaction for me.
Thanks again--and good luck in your journey!!

Hi Lynn~
You're doing so well...how exciting to break that 250 barrier!!!! Our surgeon wants us to keep our protein up around 90-100g. I don't have a problem in this area because I do a 2 1/2 shot proteing shake in the am that gives me about 55g over the course of 2 hours, plus string cheese for breakfast. You're right about keeping the calories up, too.
Great job on tracking your intake. Keep up the great work!
