Century Club For ME!

Ladies, I am finally going to claim my century club today. I have been weighing in at 142 for about a week now. This means I have officially lost 102 pounds since June! I am only four pounds away from my goal of 138! I am in a size 6 and could possibly be headed down to a size 4 real soon! WOW! I never thought I would say that! So I am wondering if I should set a new goal weight. I would like to hear your thoughts on this? I am 5 6 1/2 inches. Do you think I should be shooting for a smaller weight? All through out high school and college I weighed 125. My first year of college I even dropped down to 115 pounds for about 1 1/2. I think the 115 is too small. However, I am starting to think that 130 might be a better target weight. When I was part of the Optifast program, they put all of these electrodes on me to measure my weight and body fat percentage. The results of that test stated that 119 pounds was muscle, tissue, bones and organs. This was the minimum amount of weight that I could possibly weigh I guess without sacrificing health. So thinking about this if I weighed 130 this would mean that I was carrying around 11 pounds of body fat. Does this seem normal? When you do the percentages though this would be about 10% body fat, right? I have always heard that as a woman you should not fall below 18.5 percent body fat. What do you ladies think? Can someone give me some guidance on what is a good weight for somone of my height---5 6/12? The nurse at my primary care office is 5'7 inches tall and she weighs 135 pounds. She told me that she targets five pounds in each direction to keep her weight in check. Should I have a goal of 130? What do you ladies think? Any advice?

Hi Diana, Congratulations on your acheivement. At 5'6", according to BMI you would be reaching the lower end of normal at 21. I personally think that 130-135 is not only reasonable but healthy for your height. Good luck and again congratulations!! Debra

Congrats!! Isn't it such a wonderful feeling! I just made it this weekend too. IMO, 130 is a little too small but what do I know. My personal goal is 130 and I am 5'2". Shelley 298/198/130

Congrats!!!! I don't think 130 is unreasonable for your height. But what kind of frame do you have? Some women are alot of bone and less muscle and need more weight. My sister is your height and her best weight is around 135-140. I think frame matters. I am 6 foot and large framed so really skinny for me would be 170. And even at that weight I would never wear less than a size 12. I am shooting for 180 because that is the top of my normal bmi scale. I was 170 when I was 19 and think that may have been too thin for me. Wendy

Congratulations, you have done really well. IMHO that weight would be to small for you but you are in charge and whatever you decide is the best. LYnn

Congratulations!!!! Hmmmmm..... I have never analyzed weight and body fat as in depth as you just did here....so I'm no expert. But you are just an inch and a half taller than me and I don't think 130 is unreasonable at all. I weigh 132 right now and my personal goal is 125. I figure we will probably lose down to BELOW where we should be and then gain some back and balance out anyway. Just my opinion. Welcome to the Century Club!!!!! Doesn't it feel GREAT!?!? Hugs, Pam
