Hi all...just had to share. I just finished my second 5K walk last weekend and was thinking that I would like to challenge myself even more. Understand that doing a 5K was the most I had EVER done!! So, I was talking to my parents about finding a 10K walk to do. Now don't misunderstand~ my parents have been the most supportive of anyone of me and my decision to have the surgery. They have celebrated it all with me. But, they were very concerned about me doing a 10K, afraid that I would hurt myself. When I heard that from both Mom and Dad, I kind of thought, well...maybe I shouldn't do this yet. So what do I do? I came home tonight, got on my treadmill, and walked 6.2 miles!!! Woo Hoo!!! I have NEVER come close to accomplishing that! Of course, I'm hurting big time, and am not sure I will be able to walk tomorrow (I'm supposed to play racquetball at 8am!!) I guess I decided to use my little rebellion in a positive way! Let no person tell me I can't do it!!!!!!!! And, of course, I took a picture of the distance, sent it in an email to my parents stating, "Enough said!" I bet they'll get a kick out of it. Just wanted to share...you guys are the only ones who can appreciate it! That, and the fact that I can get my husband's jeans on!!! NO one would understand why THAT would make me happy!!! Have a great weekend everyone. Love ya! Kerri

Good for you! When you play raquetball do you have a partner, or do you play by yourself? I played once at a hotel I stayed at and loved it. They gym I belong to doesn't have a racquetball court, but boy I wish they did. I would love it! Keep up the good work.

Hi Kelly Jo~ I play with partners when playing racquetball. The gym that we joined has courts, and I've convinced some friends to join, too. Having a hubby that plays helps because you have a built in partner. But, I play a lot with other teachers from school, my hairdresser, and people from church. It's addictive. Maybe the YMCA has courts if you have one in your city. Also, a lot of times city fitness centers have them and you don't have to be a member. If you enjoyed playing, search your city and see if there's a court that you can play at that's near you. You could play by yourself, with an ipod or walkman on, that would be great motivation. But, when playing at the gym, I always know that there's other people that would like the court that have partners. Soooo... I'm hesitant to take up a court by myself. If I was brave, I would do it anyways when I didn't have someone to play with, like last night. Of course, had I played last night, I wouldn't have walked so I guess it all works out. Enjoy your day! Hugs, Kerri

I will have to search for a court...cuz I did really enjoy it. There is no YMCA here in Slidell, but in New Orleans, there was one. I'm now sure if it has re-opened or not. Hmmm, I'll have to ask my club if they know of somewhere since we don't have one. And if they plan to do one soon, cuz they are changing some things. Thanks.

Thanks for the encouragement Leslie...You are doing great on your journey!!! I don't think I would be doing all of these walks if it wasn't for the motivation of people on the CA board. They are hard core!!! Several of them just completed the LA Marathon. Definitely not up for that yet, but maybe someday... Enjoy your Sunday! Hugs, Kerri
