My employer is having a lunch today with a baseball theme (it's our opening day here!). They will be serving brats, turkey dogs, nachos, peanuts and cookies. Has anyone tried a turkey dog yet? I have had a slice or so of bratwurst, but worry about the fat in it, so probably won't do much more than that. I did bring a lunch if I need it, but I just thought I would check here to see what you may have tried! Thanks! Nicole Lap RNY 6/7/05 312/154/150

Hey love........... what fun.......... I have tried a turkey dog--- it is not too bad, chew very well..... and eat in moderation. It is not as flavorfull as the traditional American treat BUT-- IT SERVES ITS PURPOSE. I eat turkey bacon, and ground turkey as well. It may be a little different but.... I survived. It is better on the tummy. Good Luck and enjoy the day........ Renee'

Nicole, I did try a regular hotdog not to long ago and it was ok, it was my first since surgery and I was scared but wanted one so bad. I took it slow and it was fine. I just kind of picked at the dog in the bun and did not eat all that bread. It just had to be together to make it taste the same. I have tried the ground turkey all the time as well as turkey bacon and it seems ok so you should be fine. Have a great time hun. ~hugs~ Debra P

Thanks, ladies! It worked just fine, and tasted really good! I even had part of a brat and some nachos (they brought in one of those cheese machines!). Not the healthiest lunch, but definitely high in protein, and a fun treat. And now I am ready for the summer, knowing that I can handle turkey dogs! Have a great afternoon! Nicole
