Getting discouraged so far this month
We'll I have finally hit a major plateau. I have been pretty luck to have not had a major slow down with losing during the last nine months but now it has happened. So far, two weeks into my 9th month, I have not lost anything and in fact gained 2 pounds. I went to the surgeon last Friday for the final follow up from my hernia repair and he laughed at me and said I should not be concern about gaining two pounds. He said "you just lost 20 pounds in two weeks, were somewhat dehydrated when you left the hosptal. You body is adjusting." We'll it has been a week and I've still not lost anything. My appetite has come back with a vengeance and at times I'm ravenous. I hope the losing is not finished I'm still 45 pounds from my goal.
Frustrated,
Chip
Chip, I feel you............
Glad all is basically well............ that may seem tough, BUT-- you are such a fighter and have proven to be a winner!!
This road has various twists but you have made every turn.
Give yourself a high five for effort and attitude change. You will loose those pounds...... Trust!!
I get weary at times and desire to loose as fast and as much as I did last summer BUT--- IT HAS SLOWED and now truly is up to me.
I sulk for a bit....... and remember where I was and how far I have come...
that makes me happy and more determined to work harder.
Chip, you are a true champ--- remember that!!!
Blessing,
Renee'
Oh, Chip don't get flustered. I had not lost a pound in 6 weeks, went on a cruise and to Padre gained 8 pounds in 2 weeks came home went to the doctor and he said not to lose anymore weight because I am having a hernia repair and TT next tuesday the 4th. Well I had a face lift the day after seeing the doctor and have lost the 8 pounds I gained plus another 6 for a total of 14 in one week. Our bodies take time to adjust and some take longer than others. I have found out if I eat more for a few days then go back to what I was eating I start losing again. Doesn't make any sense to me but it happened. I didn't count calories fat or protein on the cruise and the week I was home I did and it just fell off. Go figure. I am happy but afraid the doctors not going to be.
I know it gets really frustrating going up and down, we just have to try not to fret about it and take it as it comes. When you are really hungry drink, drink, and drink some more. Sometimes I think our hunger is we are lacking something in our diet, like fiber or vitamins etc.
You have done so wonderful you will succeed we just have to be patient and I know that is terribly hard to do. Especially for me. I am not a very patient person but I try. I wish you all the luck and happiness and I have faith you will reach goal.
Keep me informed.

Chip,
I too lost, then gained 2 lbs. for a total of no weight lost this month. I was feeling pretty blue about it and then remembered that many have had plateaus on this site and on the MN site, many people at 9 months out had a big slow down, only to lose weight later. So, I decided once again to keep working at it and be patient. I have also started weight lifting this month and I know that muscle weighs more, so... Anyway honey you will lose the weight you want to, the odds are with you!! Hugs! Jo
Hi Chip,
I'm right there with ya!!! I've only lost a few pounds in the last month and a half. I was getting soooo discouraged because I, like you, still have a ways to go. I want so badly to break that 200 lb. mark, but it just hasn't come yet. I just have to trust and believe that our journey will continue and we're not done yet. Let me know how things progress. By the way, when I did my 9 month measurements, I had still lost several inches in various areas. So I guess I can't call this last month a true plateau. Keep track of those inches. I bet you're losing and just don't know it quite yet. I'm so glad you're feeling better. I also understand about the appetite returning. It kind of scared me when I could eat an entire power crunch bar at one time. Yikes!!! Anyways, let's just hang in there together. We WILL make it!!
Hugs,
Kerri
Chip Honey,
You have had alot of stress on your body lately! You have to give it a chance to conserve and rest up and heal! My goodness you have done so wonderful so far, it is ok to have a slow period. You will start burning up those pounds when your body feel safer.
I think it is using up the protein healing you up.
