I am starting the plateau buster diet today
OK everyone, I have only lost 2 lbs in the last month, and only 1 lb so far for March. And that was in the first few days of March,
Since January I have only lost 5 lbs, sooooo I totally need to do SOMETHING!! I am going to do the plateau buster diet, and I am starting today.
I know why I haven't been losing. Let me confess... I have been eating chocolate every day. I have been drinking a Starbucks Frappaccino Light every day, at 310 cals each. One day I even drank 2!
I also eat crackers and chips every day, but my downfall is those Starbucks drinks and all that chocolate. I bought a bag of jelly bellys and finished them in 4 days, and 2 packs of Cadbury's eggs and finished them in those same 4 days. On top of all this, I haven't been exercising at all. I guess I should be happy that I haven't gained any weight, that I have still continued to lose at least a little! But I have 20 lbs to go, and if I want plastics in June then I need to get moving.
So I am holding myself accountable by confessing to you guys that I am doing this, and by saying I am stopping NOW! I don't have anymore junk food in my house right now, only good stuff for the plateau buster diet, and I have already started it this morning.
If anyone else wants to join me, please do!
Thank you for your support, guys. I really need it!

i bet that made you feel better, huh? i know how hard things are getting for us now. the "boredom" eating is coming back for me. never was a stress or emotional eater, just ate if i was bored. at work, all the supervisor's have candy at their desks and i find myself grabbing a couple now n laters, today i took 2 bit o honey's. not that i am over-indulging in this crap, but it is just going to lead to bigger quantities and set a pattern...and i have to stop it, too!
even when i go to the grocery store, i want to buy all this crap and say it is "for the kids". but i know if i bring that crap home, i am going to sneak a cookie or a hostess cupcake or... so i just REFUSE to buy them anything that i like! i guess it is kind of mean, but i still buy them snacks and stuff, either healthy or the stuff i won't eat. last night after dinner, i sliced up some strawberries and topped them with sugar-free cool whip and they loved it! wouldn't stop ranting about them, and i could have some and not feel guilty. i am going to make every effort to do things like that, instead of cookies or brownies.
ok, now that i have turned this into all about me... i applaud you for stepping up to the plate and making a confession! you have done so awesome in this journey and i KNOW you will make your goal. good luck with the plateau buster! i always wanted to try it, but i just know i wouldn't last 10 days!
let us know how you do!

Mary Jo, I totally understand about the candy being in your office and you taking a few. My best friend keeps a basket of chocolates on her kitchen table, right now it is easter stuff and I keep finding myself taking one or two while I am at her house!! I guess if you think about it, before surgery I would have eaten more than 1 or 2 but if you add up all those trips.... LOL!
I don't think it is mean at all to refuse to buy that junk food for your kids. I think that stuff is supposed to be a once-in-a GREAT while treat, I try not to buy too much of it too. The way I look at it with my son is that I am trying to teach him to have good eating habits for the rest of his life, and if I allow him to have all the junk food now all the time, then he will end up like me. Right now he is skinny as a rail of course, at 6 years old but he has to learn now, right? I do need to STOP buying all of it. I don't have any junk left right now, and I have been doing really good today on the diet, just haven't had any protein drinks yet, I haven't built up the courage, lol. I have even exercised. I did 1 mile on my treadmill, running and walking. It wasn't as bad as I thought and my son and I are going to go on a walk here pretty soon.
Thank you so much for your support, Mary Jo! Your responses always make me feel like I am not alone in all of this, and make me feel so much better, you give me hope!
Hugs,
Tiff
yes, i don't want my kids to end up overweight either. 2 of them are pretty picky eaters. my son is right about average (he is almost 12, 4'9'' and about 80 lbs). my one daughter is underweight (she is almost 8, 4'0'' and 44 lbs). and my baby is my little chunk! she is 4, 42 inches and 42 lbs. she is in the 75th percentile for height and weight though, so i like to think it averages out. of course she is the one that will eat absolutely anything! so i really try to make good choices for them.
girl, you are soooo NOT alone! anything you need, anytime you want to talk, let me know!
hugs and
Tiffany,
I would be more than happy to do it with you. I actually started last Sunday though(the 12th). I can honestly say that it has busted my plateau. I yoyo-ed from 185 to 182 for over a month until i tried this diet. In one and a half week i went down 8-10 pounds.(depending if you go by 182 or 185) Anyway, i combined the diet with 3o minutes of exercise (mainly treadmill). I go on www.fitday.com every day like clockwork to keep up with my calories, fat and most importantly carbs. I think that has been a big part of my success. I don't know if you have ever used that sight or night but it is awesome. I put everything on there before i eat it to see what my calorie intake, carbs and protein would be prior to eating and usually i change my mind pretty fast when i see the price i have to pay for eating something. They also have a daily journal, calorie, goal, activities and daily food page. I am addicted to this site. Anyway this is what i eat in a typical day.
breakfast
protein shake (40-60grams of protein)
vitamin b12, vitamins A&D, multivitamin, caltrate calcium, sea power liquid vitamin and biotin
snack (which i rarely have in the early part of the day)
sugar free popsicle
lunch
3 oz rotisserie chicken
30 minutes later 8oz apple cider in water
snack
sugar-free jello
30 minutes later 12oz water
dinner
3oz Rotisserie chicken
30 minutes later 12oz water
Snack
crystal light (frozen like an icee)
I usually stay around 500 calories a day, with around 20 or less carbs and 100 grams or more of protein. All i know is i am on the loosing side again and it feels wonderful because i was so depressed. I don't it would be possible with both the plateau diet and the fit day website. Good luck to you.

I am glad that the buster diet is working for you!! I will try what you are doing, it looks like that will work the best. I just hate protein drinks, but I will have to suck it up!! I followed the rules yesterday to a T and I even exercised like I said, but this morning I was at the same weight. How many days of the diet did it take for you to start losing?

Good luck, Penny! I started it Sunday, lost one pound Monday, then have not lost and even showed some gain since then. Haven't cheated. Can't figure out what's going on unless I'm gaining muscle right now. I started working out at a gym almost three weeks ago, three times a week. I'm about ready to just go back to "regular" eating. Let us know how it goes!
