Feeling like a pre-op!

Ok guys, Here it is. I have 80 more pounds to go to hit my goal weight. I feel like I am winded from the first 140lbs and don't know if I have the enthusiasm it takes to get there. It's like playing a board game and making it through 3/4 of the game and someone knocks your piece off the board back to the beginning! We all know that our appetites are kicking in again at this stage, and most of you are close to goal, I feel like a pre-op with that much weight to lose. I am still in 22 size pants, down from 34's, which I know is better, but ok, JEALOUS of the 12,10,8 and 6's most of you are in now! Don't get me wrong, I am VERY happy for you all, but feeling frustrated at myself. It feels like such a long time to get there!!!!!!!!! I guess I just need encouragement to keep going. I'm feeling left behind! Wendy

Wendy, Please don't feel alone. I too feel envious of some of the others on this board. I have only lost 89 lbs. and have 22-47 more lbs. to goal and wear a size 14. I am an extremely slow loser compared to others on this board (including you). However, we can't compare ourselves to others--you have been very successful. Do you really want to stop at this point? If you are happy where you are, then so be it! Otherwise, keep exercising, journal your food and measure out what you're eating. You can do it---if you really want to! Thanks Becky, I know about the comparison deal, it is a downer, so I try not to, but boy I wish I was closer to goal! You are right about the not giving up. I know eventually I will be at goal, or close! Wendy

Hi Wendy, I'm right there with ya, you're not alone!!! I still have 62 lbs to go to hit my goal weight, after having lost 120 lbs. The scale hasn't moved almost at all this last month and I'm extremely frustrated. I'm doing all of the things that I'm supposed to, even increasing my exercise since Dec., but to no avail- scale wise anyways. I almost posted about this frustration to see if anyone else, who is still a ways from their goal, is plateauing the way I seem to be. I, too, started out at a 30-32 pants and am now in a 16W. It's hard to hear how well everyone else is doing when I can't seem to get to the 100's and I want it so badly. I'm, like you, extremely happy and proud of those who are at goal or close, but I'm feeling frustrated with my journey at the moment. What I can say is HANG IN THERE!!!! YOU are NOT alone!! Our bodies had further to go than a lot of other people. That's okay!! We WILL lose the weight, unless we give up. We CAN do it! We can not always control how or when it comes off, but, rest assured, it will come off. We don't want to get out of the game when we're 3/4 there. Let's go ALL THE WAY!!! You have done amazing!!! You couldn't have lost 140 lbs, and kept it off, with any other diet. We might not meet our goals by the 12 month, or even the 18 month, deadline. But, we will make it! Just keep using your tool, let's make sure we get enough water (which seems to be my downfall), get the protein in...I'll help ya in anyway I can. I understand!! Feel free to email me if you need to vent, or just want some support from a fellow WLS patient that's in the trenches with you. Hugs, Kerri

Thank you Kerri, I appreciate knowing I am not alone. I am so happy for myself and all of us, but when I look at the numbers left to go, I get so irritated with myself, I just feel angry for ever getting so stinking big to begin with! I did not expect to be a beauty queen or a size 2 or anything. I would be happy to be a 12 forever. I know it will come, but I feel like all my energy and enthusiasm, just isn't there like it was! Thanks for the support! Wendy

Kerri, Your reply to this post was really helpful to me too. I have to try and not get discouraged and jealous when I see people already hitting their goal weight - or close to it anyway. I panic because the scale is not moving fast anymore and I still have a long way to go. I've lost 139 pounds so far which is great, but I am still about 70 pounds overweight. I also started out wearing 30/32 pants. I'm now in a snug 18. I just pray that the weight will continue to come off. Dawn

Hi Dawn, Glad my post helped...I believe it with all of my heart!!! We can do this together! When you're down, get support here. If there's no one around, email me and I'll be happy to encourage ya! The weight will absolutely come off, it's just going to take us longer. I've just now in the last couple of days begun to see the scale start to move again~ not much, mind you, but it has begun. I'm sure yours will, too. It won't be like it was at the beginning. But, how excited were you when you got into those pants that began with a 1 instead of a 2 or a 3????? I could have jumped for joy! And, for each 10 lbs. now, it really shows!! How fun is that!!! Take care and hang in there! Hugs, Kerri

Each month I use the Post Op Planner provided by Obesityhelp.com During these past months it helps me to keep my monthly goals. I can't imagine how some people have done it. Because I got off track during months 5,6, and such... I think it hurt me... so I think I can imagine how you feel. Perhaps if you take your weight and re-apply it to the monthly goal... it will help. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/information/post+op+planner.php I would be more helpful, but a family member is in the hospital and my mind wanders as I write... Just wanted to wish you success adn encouragement.

Hi Wendy, Boy, I am right there with you. Lately I haven't felt like I've had the surgery at all.(Which I know sounds crazy!!) I have lost 84 lbs so far and I have about 50 more I'd like to lose. I know my biggest demon is exercise. I love to walk but my doctor said walking isn't enough. He was upset with me for not doing Cardio. I know what I need is to get back to the basics and really buckle down. Feel free to e-mail me if you need someone to talk to. ~Robin 285/201/145?
