Very Discouraged
Some of you may have read this on the Indiana board. But I thought maybe some of you could help me also. hi I don't imagine most of you remember me, so here it goes. I am 8 months out I weigh today 191 lbs, that is down 77lbs since surgery and 95lbs from my highest weight. I have not lost a lb since before thanksgiving. I started working out 2 weeks before thanksgiving and continue to workout everyday (m-f) up until 2 weeks ago when I became extremely discouraged. I started writing down everything I ate and know I am not doing really well on my diet. I also need a support group really bad and live to far away from Indy to drive. I know there is a support group in Bloomington and possibly in Seymour. If anyone has any information on these I would love to have it. no one around me understands and they are all tired of hearing about my journey. Someone please help me find my way. I feel so lost!!!!!
SORRY to hear Sheila that your discouraged.
IT gets harder at the point we are at.
THE weight slowes down alot.
OUR appetites increase.
I know im looseing extremely slow now many
weeks no loss and now and then a pound here
and there. THATS to be expected the closer
to ideal weight we get.
ARE you getting enough protein?
I know in the last 2 weeks i put alot more
protein in my diet and did get off 5 lbs.
I have done this with stallone puddings
and shakes.
I dont know if it will help you.
ARE your calories good? or they too lo?
OUR bodies fight looseing if we dont get
enough calories.
ITS not easy and i find support meetings help me
refocus when i am slipping. I know for me if i didnt
start looseing a drop more this week i was going
on 3 days of liquids protein shakes and clear liquids
maybe you need to try that

Shelia,
Hun I know it is so hard to not get discouraged when our weight slows and we can eat more but know you are still doing the best you can do to change the rest of your life, the exercise is for YOU! A new healthy way of living, that is how I look at it when I do not lose but doing everything like I should be doing.
I know there will be a point that I will stop losing (hoping when I am at goal) and that scares me but I know I will be as healthy as I can be, adding years to my life
Hang in there hun and post often, we all can help and we ALL go through this!

Hi Shiela,
I strongly recommend going to FitDay.com and record everything you eat and the exercise you do. I have done this from the very beginning and it is so helpful. Also, ask your doctor's office to help you set a calorie range, and protein, fluid, carb and fat goals per day. I try for 80-100 grams of protein, less than 80 carb grams and less than 40 fat grams. My calorie range is 700-1200 (never lower than 700 and not more than 1200 if I want to loose since 1250 is my resting metabolic rate). Then is you continue your exercise, you can't help but loose! Hugs and Good Luck! Jo

Good morning Sheila - first of all, remind yourself what a wonderful job you have done so far and give yourself a big hug! This phase will soon pass - everyone hits a point where the weight slows down and we begin questioning everything. It sounds like you are doing everthing right - I agree that you should up your protein tho - that always seems to kick start my plateaus that I hit (and believe me, there have been a few) And are you drinking ebough water daily?
Please feel free to email me anytime - we are all here in this together! Take care and keep your chin up!
Sorry to hear you are getting discouraged. We all slow down but I reallly agree with Jo you need to keep track of what you are eating and drink alot of fluids. The more you excersice the more you need the extra fluids to help you lose. I am really slow at losing now, been stuck now for about 3 weeks but am not going to let it get me down I just keep on and it will happen. When you excersice you put on muscle and it weights more than fat so don't stop it will happen just try not to get discouraged it will happen.

thanks everyone for answering my post. I have gone back to the basics. today has been a good day so far. I had a protein shake for breakfast, 1/4 cup of nuts for lunch, 4oz cottage cheese and 4 oz chili for supper, a hamburger patty for a snack and a popsicle. and no drinking for 30minutes before or after a meal. I am sorry it takes me so long to get back on here. I work nights and that makes everything a little more difficult.
