Hello all - just wanted you to know I went to see my bariatric surgeon today. I completed my 2 week 'detox' to see if it would jumpstart some lb shedding. In 2 weeks I only dropped 1.5 lbs - but she said that was a positive step in the right direction. After reviewing my 2 week food journal, she said I had alot of rethinking to do. OhOh! LOL Turns out the string cheese and sugar free pudding arent such good choices after all. She wants me to skip corn, peas, and continue being starch free and snack free. I feel re-committed to my eating choices - I can see now why I thought I had hit a plateau - I was just fueling my body with the wrong things. Ok, here I go again. Forward and positive once again.
WEll glad you are getting it under control. It is hard to know what to do. I bet you will start losing again real soon. I have been at a stand still almost for a month now. I need to excersice. I stopped and it is sure letting me know that was not the right thing to do. Good Luck and God Bless

Debra,
I guess our surgeons are on the same page. I went last Monday for a check up and he said no more corn, no more snacks and to get in more water and protein and only 3 meals a day. He said at first the string cheese and puddings and starches were fine just to get me eating but now I need to do more healthy food and no more SNACKS! He said if I up my water and do 3 good protein meals a day I would start loosing again and that I should be dropping around 8lbs a month still. He was right. I upped the water and 3 meals a day and have already dropped 2 lbs. Hopefully I can continue the loss after 2 months of nothing.
Good luck to you.

I can only go by what she told me. She said that ANY cheese has fat content, and I should make better protein choices. I was eating 1-3 string cheese daily, so maybe she is right. I have stalled at my weight shedding, so I will try ANYTHING at this time. Im even thinking of going back to my protein shakes - even tho she doesnt want us drinking that either - she wants us to get the protein from food choices versus liquid.
It seems that it just depends on who did the surgery, and what their program calls for. I will do whatever it takes to suceed - these past 7 months have been incredible, and I can only imagine the future! So I will listen to her and keep going forward.
Take care
