Good morning all - I have a question - how long do plateaus typically last? I havent dropped a single pound since mid January! I just started going to Curves 2 weeks ago (hoping that this would start speeding up the weight shedding) but that hasnt helped! I walk faithfully everyday (2-3 miles). I am diligent on my supplements and my protein intake. I have eliminated all starches, breads, pastas, crackers and cookies. I hate to admit that I am really getting discouraged
I just cant believe this is happening (I really got used to seeing the scale drop every Monday morning when I weighed in!)
What do you think? Thanks for any helpful suggestions or comments you can share. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks again!
Hi Debra!
Well I am sorry I don't have an answer for you, but I just wanted to let you know that I feel your pain! I have bounced from 151 to 153 for over 3 weeks now!! I haven't lost anything since mid-January either. Last week I was 151 again, today I weighed in at 153.
I on the other hand, have been eating horribly. I input my calories for yesterday and I ate 1700!! That is A LOT! I have been battling head hunger and it doesn't help that I can eat whatever I want without dumping. Ice cream, cookies, whatever.
Today I am starting over, and getting back to basics. Hopefully it works. I remember reading about people on the main board shortly after my surgery who were around 8-10 months out saying that they weren't losing so they would go back to basics, like protein first, then veggies and no carbs, lots of water and exercise, vitamins etc. But it looks like you are doing that so maybe your body is just taking a break? I have also heard of people starting back on the full-liquid diet for a few days to jump start a loss. And of them mixing up their food choices.
Good luck Debra!!!! Hopefully come next Monday your scale will go down!

Hi Deb B - I have been the same weight for a week, nothing to serious yet I haven't had a plateau for more then a week so far. I thought I would just share what my nutritionist told me last time I saw her. You probably already know but sometime it helps to hear it from another angle. She told me to get min. of 60 grams of protein but 90 was better. She also said to keep carbs between 90-120 grams, that adds up really fast. Never drink with your meal, and wait an hour after, eat protien first, veggies next and carbs last...goal never to get to the carbs. Drink a min. of 70 oz., of water (just pure water is better) a day, to flush out toxins. Eat smaller meals through out the day to keep your metabolism going and don't eat before bed. Exercise, she said now is the time when we need more exercise too keep things toned up.
I will tell you a new thing I love is Matrix protein perfect chocolate heated to a cup of hot chocolate, really good!
Good luck and I wish the wooshie fairy comes to visit soon!
