200 pounds down!
Hey folks . . . just wanted to let y'all know this junebug hit the 200 pound mark today. I am feeling great, eating well, and exercising well.
I am shooting for at least another 75 - 100 pound loss in the next few months. If I manage a 5 pound per week pace (which I can do if I am diligent with exercise), I should be done around the end of June, 2006, just after my one year anniversary.
Wish my luck and everyone keep up their good work!

Holy cow!
You are doing wonderful! We share the same rebirthday! I am so proud of your success and all of us Junebugs. We are doing great! I need to start really excersizing, I know that is why my loss has slowed down so much. I don't seem to have any energy. What is your secret?
Keep up the good work!
Wendy
Hi, Wendy. You are doing great!
My "secret" is not so secret. I simply get in at least 50 gm. of protein a day. I can really tell the difference in my workout when I don't get enough protein. Water is also very important, and I try to do 64 oz. a day. I have a big 64 oz. jug sitting on my desk at work and try to drink that before the workday ends every day.
Earlier in my post-op life, I was managing a loss of 6 pounds per week, mainly because I was keeping my intake at around 500 calories per day, and then exercising it off most days. I dropped off of that around the holidays when life became super busy and I stopped going to the gym regularly. Now that the holidays are over, I have stepped up my exercise again and try to blow roughly 800 - 1000 calories per workout, so that I can keep up with what I now eat per day. This should result in about a 5 pound per week loss for me.
Bottom line is, at this point, the tool (surgery) has done a lot for me to get me well on the way to that 275-300 lb. weight loss goal, but it is now a matter of me taking charge and bringing myself to the finish line. Since I can eat anything I want, there is nothing stopping me from failing except myself, and I won't let that happen. I am also highly motivated to blow through this last 75 - 100 pounds because I spent 35 years struggling with a big body, and I would like to move on! I am already enjoying life so much now, I am really looking forward to what life is like 50, 75, or 100 pounds less from now. Enjoying life, more than anything, is what motivates me.
Take care and keep up the great work!

Beth,
Your second to last paragraph about taking charge says it all. You are truly right. The only people who can stop ourselves from failing is ourselves! I won't let that happen either!
Thanks for sharing. I really needed to hear this today. Your committment is really shining through!
You go girl! I'll let you know when I hit that 200 lb. mark - You have inspired me!
Yours in pounds down,
Jen
