You know, I struggled with it too before saying anything...because I know i should be grateful for how far i have come... But you see what won this battle...DEPRESSION! I just really thought that I was gonna hit the 100lb loss this month. I really did. I'm just so bummed about that. I wonder too...is this where I'm supposed to end up? I hope not. I too, feel like it will be many months before I ever get wherever "there" is. I really hope it's just a seven month "thing" and next month is a super whooshie month! Pam

Pam, I feel I am slowing down as well and maybe it is time for us to be doing that, I know the closer we get to goal the harder it is to lose It is scary for sure and I think we are watching the scale more at these times, I sure know I do and get really upset when I see it moving so slow. I am also worried about not reaching goal but it does not seem to make me want to get on my treadmill more. I find it really hard to get into a schedule with exercise and I KNOW I HAVE to do this for a long term success but it still gets me! I fight with the treadmill! Well we are here for you hun and please keep us posted ~Hugs~ Debra P

Yes, Debra....I know how you feel. I need my own personal boot camp drill sargeant to make my butt move!! I wish I could afford one of those!!! You know how all those people say "throw the scale away"...."weigh only once a week (or month)"....wellllllll I'll never believe in that one after this experience! I'll stick to daily weighing! Pam

Pam, Oh I will weigh myself every day, I feel it keeps me on track for sure. When I see that I am up 1/2 -1 lbs, even though it can be water weight I find I stick to my plan better to keep myself on course. I WILL weigh myself every day, when I can. Yeah I need someone like that as well, it was nice when I had the personal trainer but with buying the house right now we can not afford that. That sure helped me DO what I needed to DO. Well I guess this is were my will power will have to be learned. take care Debra P

Well, so far month seven has been good to me. I'm 10 days into my seventh month and have lost 6 pounds. I only lost 9 pounds all of last month. I have much more to lose than most so I think that explains why I'm still losing more quickly. I believe, as others have said, the closer to goal the slower the weight loss. I'm still hoping to make onederland by June 20th my 1 year aniversary. Only 49lbs to go. I felt like I was eating too much but when I charted it learned I was not eating enough so this month I've uped my protein intake and am drinking lots of water. My partner stopped smoking in October and put on 25 lbs so he is now doing a "protein diet with me." We have a little competition going and I'm winning. I have never beat anyone at losing weight. Hey Chip! Congrats on winning the competition thus far! That's great! You are doing so well. I just started adding protein powder to my weight control oatmeal everyday.....trying to up my protein too. I didn't do very well with my protein on travel. I ate protein bars out there, but they only had 12g of protein in them. My oatmeal has 29g of protein. I'm hoping that helps. I kinda freaked about not losing because I did take in more calories while i was out there...but i also took in more carbs too.....or maybe it's muscle...we did a LOT, a really LOT of walking out there. Oh, heck...I could maybe this to death. I think i'm gonna stick with the 7 month stall idea....that way...it's all better in month 8!! pam

Pam, This is my worst month of all so far too! On Jan. 1st I was 157. Today I am 151. That is only a loss of 6 lbs for the whole month. And for the past 2 weeks I have been bouncing from 151 to 153. I haven't been eating very good though, and I haven't been doing any real exercise, only walking and not much. So I know it is my own fault. I think there must be a 7 month stall or something!!! Good luck to us all!!!

My understanding is that our weight loss would start to slow down 6 months out but our June surgery timing probably compounds the issue. 1. Thanksgiving and Christmas. Need I say more? 2. Short days and cold weather leading to reduced outdoor activity, Seasonal Affective Disorder and depression. 3. Post holiday bill tension. 4. Thinking about taxes. 5. Reaching long established weight "setpoints" that our bodies resist getting below. Hang in there. Stick to the plan. Be sure to get all your water, protein, and exercise in. Spring will come and life will be fun. As far as our weight loss slowing down I have heard that we loose half our excess in the first 6 months, then we will loose that much again in the following year. That means as a general rule we can take our current weight loss and double it. That is where we should expect to be 18 months post op. Hope this helps. Have a great day. Rich

I haven't posted here in a few months...I thought I was the only one... I am down 101 lbs, bringing me down to 174--While this really makes me happy, I have not moved past this point in three weeks. I know it is unrealistic to be looking at the 150's or lower because I am 5'9", but I just would like to get down to 165. I have been going to the gym, upping my protein, and increasing my water. I am hoping that this will break soon. Regardless though...I still can't believe the weight I am at! On the lucky side, I live with someone who is 10 months out, and she went through the same thing. Midway into her 8th month, it finally broke and she started to lose again. We have gotten so used to seeing 10, 20 lbs drop off at a moment's notice. Now we have to acclimate ourselves to a "normal" weight loss rate. Have a great day! -Cheri
