I have been doing really well up until last month I have lost 100 pounds and counting. I have been under alot of stress lately and find myself grazing and not on the best things! I do not Dump, I do not get sick from anything sugar, soda, beer, vodka, bad bad bad. I know this sounds bad but I wish I did so it would keep me off the bad stuff. I know this is only a tool but I feel like I am slipping big time. Say a little prayer for me to get back on track. If you stretch you pouch out can you shrink it? Help. I need advise and support.

I dont think that I have ever dumped and for sure I dont want too. I havent tried sugar, soda, beer or any alchohol yet. I am afraid too. I heard it packs a meaner punch now. lol Does it, do you get drunk faster? I would think your pouch can shrink back down, our old stomachs could. You will get back on track. You have done great losing. 100 lbs is awesome. So dont get discouraged. Carla

Hi Carla. I had my surgery the same day as you did. What was your starting weight? How much have you lost so far? Just wanted to compare notes. I started out at 267 and have lost 75 pounds as of this morning.

Hi Kelly, I started out at 281 and have lost a total of 104. I am now 177 and wear 14's and 12's. Most of my tops are XL or L. It is so much fun to go shopping now. I love it.The dr. set a goal for me of 140, I would like to see 130 or135, but I will wait to see how I feel at 140. Thats only 37lbs to go. Its amazing. I never thought I would be small like that again. Keep up the good work your doing, you are doing great. Carla

Callie - WOW! You described exactly what Im going thru! I have been scared to death since discovering I can eat and drink ANYTHING without repercussion (this started right around Thanksgiving - and its been downhill ever since)! You and I need to work extra harder! We have done so awesomely since June, and now is NOT the time to screw it up! I was so worried about this that I started food behavior counseling. An important thing that was pointed out to me, is when I am having the 'grazing' or 'sweets' cravings, I should ask myself what is going on at that moment. Am I really hungry? Bored? Stressed? Sad? Do something for the next 10 minutes, if I am still hungry , THEN I can eat something that is GOOD for me. This has really been something that I am trying to do. Try it, at least for an hour, and see if that helps. FOod really isnt the real issue - its the underlying emotions that drive us to make these sabotaging choices. I know that I have ALWAYS used food for comfort, and maybe that is what is happening to you? It sucks that we dont get sick after the junky eating, and no dumping or anything! But we have been given a chance at a healthier and longer life, and we shouldnt sabotage ourselves. Callie, lets keep each other accountable! I know I could really use someone who will understand EXACTLY this predicament that we are in - what about it? I think its amazing that your post is here today, because on the 'Arizona' message board I posted basically the same message about junk foods and my frustrations yesterday! Hang in there - you will get thru this - pat yourself on the back and look forward - (all the things Ive been telling myself lately)

I think accountability is a wonderful thing. My -mail address at work is [email protected]. I check that one more than my home address. I had a pretty good day today on eating how bout you? Callie

SORRY to hear your having a difficult time. ITS the exact reason i wont test the waters on those treats. FOR now i keep the mind set that ill be violently ill and its not worth it and i have small kids that cant have mommy down a few hours to be sick. So im refraining from that. I have learned on this board that about 40 percent of the gastric bypass people dont DUMP and i know if i find out i dont... ill be introuble eating the foods that got me unhealthy to begin with. We are all different and i hear many in my support groups that had to know and had to try.... BUCKLE down! GO back to your basics and rid the cravings GOOD LUCK lisa PS: i am not perfect and i eat more pretzels in a day then i should!

hi all, isnt' it funny, how we all discover the same things? I have eaten everything/tried everything under the sun. I have learned though, that since surgery, some things just don't taste good anymore. Like pizza, I can eat like one or two bites and be completely full, either that or it just doesn't taste good. #2)Alcohol, I get an immediate buzz, but i don't do beer, just whiskey/w a little of sprite, that is my one weakness, and i've really cut back on that, but yes you do get drunk a whole lot faster, but i've also learned that instead of sitting in your stomach, it goes straight to the veins, so you have to drink more to keep your buzz going, and I've drank a whole lot in one night, and have never, ever gotten sick. Not that I should be doing this mind you, but I have. As for everything else, I've tried, but I don't do all the time. i may have something sweet here or there, but everything now after surgery, taste ungawdly sweet, so one or two bites is all it takes to cure the craving or just have a little treat, I don't eat any more than that, adn I don't want anymore. I'm almost 7 months out, and my body still won't let me eat anymore food than I could 3 months ago, which I am really thankful for. I guess it also helps that I go to the gym at least 3-4 times a week and work out for at least an hour on all the machines and lifting weights. I went from a tight 18 to a size 6/8 now, there's no way I'll ever give that up again. And I'm right there w/you others, I've never, ever dumped since the day I had surgery. Good luck to everyone. sw 239 pw153 gw126

Callie, I definitely notice a change this month. I get hungry between meals sometimes which never used to happen. It is tough and we need to be strong with staying true to the eating rules. I have not tried anything with sugar and won't (I was a diabetic so I haven't had sugar in years). I can't handle soda. It makes me feel bloated for hours and then I pass lots of gas. I do drink on occassion (mostly vodka martini's) and have never had any issues with dumping. At times I get pretty buzzed quickly and at other times I can drink like a sailor and not have an issue. One thing that I have found, which I believe is extremely important is not to drink with in 40 minutes of eating or 45 to 50 minutes after. If I drink and then eat I get hungry more quickly. If I eat and then drink too soon I get horrible pain. I heard someone once say the first 6 months our tool is 80% responsible for our weightloss. From 6 months to a year out that number drops to 40% and then after a year to 20%. I think that is true. Now we have to really work our tool inorder to be sucessful. Hang in there we'll be sucessful.
