Elevated Liver Enzymes
Hi Everybody,
Just wanted to give you a quick update on me. I had my 6 month check up with Dr. Facundus this morning. He said that I look fantastic and was very pleased with my results so far...until he took a look at my lab results.
Pre-op, it was discovered that my liver enzymes were elevated...pretty common with obese people so I had an abdominal ultrasound and a liver biopsy during surgery. All was said to be fine. Today, my liver enzymes have climbed even higher. They are not through the roof high, but they should have gone down in six months of no prescription medications and after a 70 pound weight loss...so tomorrow I go back for another abdominal ultrasound and we go from there.
I've got a call in to my PCP who I visited on Monday...but she didn't have the results of the lab work at that point...Dr. F wanted me to ger her input on it as well.
On the positive side, I look and feel better than I have looked or felt in years and I am so thankful for this surgery and the results that I've had so far. I want to lose another 29 pounds to reach my perfect goal. I think it's definately doable if this liver thing will go away.
If you are so inclined I would appreciate any little prayers on my behalf as we work through this issue.
Thanks!
Cindy

Cindy,
All of the June Boarders and lurkers will be pulling for you. What does that mean if your liver enzymes are elavated? What does that do to you? I'm sure your doctors will work together to solve this bump in the road. You have done your part in having a smaller and healthier body than you had in June. Keep up your spirits!
Kathy
Hi Kathy,
According to my research it can be harmless or it can lead to liver damage, cirrosis or liver cancer...hopefully I'll have the first one. I've received lots of encouragement from others who have experienced this in the first year and they are doing well, so I'm praying that will be the case for me.
I had my ultrasound this morning and my PCP is sending me to a specialist on the 24th.
Thanks for the the good thoughts!
Cindy
