I dont know what is going on with me. For the past month this has been going on. Everytime I stand up like if im sitting on the couch or laying down or just going to stand up. After I stand for a second my eyes go black. I dont pass out its just my eyes everything goes black and then in about three seconds im ok. Does this happen to anyone else? What do you think it is? I thought it has something to do with my iron or something like that. I would appreciate any advice or comments.. Thanks, Brittany

Sounds like your blood pressure is probably low, you may just need more fluids or possibly more salt to help you retain more water. You could also be anemic. Have you called your doctor since this has been going on for a month? HW 250 SW 235 CW 177 GW 150

Could be several things. Blood preasure is usually the first concern. Are you still taking any BP meds, if you ever did take them? Next would be Dehydration. Are you getting enough fluids. Usually a minimum of 64 oz of pure water is a very good idea. The next would be low blood sugar. You may want to get a glucometer and check you sugar levels when this happens. The next thing I would check would be your Iron levels. This requires labs including: Iron Serum, TIBC, % Saturation, Ferritin, and Transferrin. You will probably need to specifically ask for the last two. Also, it could also be a vitamin deficiency. Most likely B12. What is your vitamin and mineral regiment like? Good luck, Keetara

I take womens one a day and a b12 pill. I dont get as much protein as I should. I drink water all the time. I have never had any problems with my blood pressure ever. I really think it has to do with my b12. I have a doctors apt this month so I was trying to wait till then. But I will call on monday. I am eating good. i just dont know. Hopefully its nothing bad. Thanks for the info.

Hey Brittany, I was doing the same thing. My doctor said mine was blood sugar levels dipping down low. Don't take any chances, it could be anything. Check with your doctor to make sure everything is safe! All the Best! Beverly

Brittany, I am having the same thing going on. I had a little of it before surgery, but it is much more common now and I know what you mean about just your eyes, I get dizzy too sometimes. It is weird. My bp is alright , but it could be the vitamins. I guess we should both go get labs done. Wendy

Hi Brittany, I was glad to read your post! I've been experiencing this same thing for about a week now. Like with you, it usually passes rather quickly. I don't have a follow up appt. with my PCP until February, so I'd love to know what you find out! Thanks, Wendy RNY 6/21/05 243/137.5/120?
