Does anyone have cravings?
Hi my name is Michelle Singer. I had my surgery on June 23, 2005. I have lost 94 lbs. I was wondering if anyone has any food cravings. I do a little bit. The weird thing is that I am craving bacon. I hated bacon before the surgery but loved Sausage. Now I can't even think about it without getting sick to my stomach. Is this natural. I am confusedd.
Thank you,
Michelle
I still don't have cravings but sometimes I'll I think I'm going to really enjoy something and then get dissappointed that I don't enjoy it or it makes me feel yucky. I made pork and saurkraut for New Years. I was really looking forward to eating it for dinner. When I sat down to eat. I had one bite of the pork and decided it wasn't going to sit well with me. I ended up eating a left over piece of chicken from the night before. I still have a hugh bowl of pork roast and saurkraut fi anyone wants it.....

Yeah, I've started having real cravings, like before surgery. I'm dealing with it by going back to the basics. Mostly limiting exposure to sweets and starches. I can't stand to watch TV commercials, especially late at night. It's quite discouraging, but I guess I'm to the point where I have to actively use my tool, not just go with the flow anymore. I do crave things that end up not sitting well with me, but since I seem to be able to tolerate most things, I have to be VERY careful. I want things I cannot have - to distraction. Even when I know it's going to be bad for me after I eat it. I would like to go back to the days of not being hungry, too. Now I have to deal with the food issues that got me here in the first place. It's time for the real work. If you find a better way, let me know! Keep your chin up.

Every once in a while i get on salty food craving kicks.... I've been on a hard salami kick for a couple of weeks now. ( I make a meal out of a slice of hard salami & a slice of colby-jack cheese )
I went through a phase of craving bacon....that only lasted a couple of days. I had some two days in a row and my gall bladder threw a major FIT! So I won't be doing that anytime soon. Now I keep the pre-cooked kind in the freezer so I can take just one piece out and nuke it and enjoy just one piece every once in a while (folded in half in a slice of co-jack cheese - and call it a meal).
I loved sausage before too...but just the thought of it now makes my stomach turn.
One thing I learned from being pregnant - if you find yourself craving ice uncontollably, you should get your iron checked. It's a symptom. I went in to my ob/gyn and told her "I'm having the wierdest insatiable craving for ICE!!" She said "Whoa, we need to check your iron then." Sure enough, my iron was low.

I may get slammed for this but.........I have 2 slices of bacon every morning, with a piece of 2% American cheese on a Lite piece of bread. Although it has fat in it, it also has protein. I have very little fat the rest of the day so I think it's o.k. If you can limit it to just 2 slices, you might want to try it. Just a thought. ~hugs~ Teresa

I eat bacon sometimes too with an egg over-easy and a 1/2 piece of whole wheat toast. I blot the heck out of it with a napkin, and I have to make sure it is really crunchy or else it turns my stomach.
My doctor told me that pork is very hard to digest, so maybe that is why it makes us kinda sick?? I'm not sure. I had ham for Christmas and it was fine, but like Chip I couldn't touch the pork roast on New Year's day, it did not look appealing at all. Sausage the same thing, I have no desire to have it.
R u kidding... I think I crave everything I shouldn't have, sugar, starch, and more of the same. I wish I would have never found out I can tolerate sugar. Christmas was a mess for me, but I'm back on track. I am learning a lot of it is in my head, as I am not as satisfied as I think I'll be once I get it. You can have the bacon just in moderation. I heard turkey bacon is really good. I bought some but haven't ate it yet.
I never really ever crave anything sweet. But man, oh man, do I crave salty foods! Doesn't matter if it's good for me or not, I crave salt. Even if I eat spinach, asparagus, meat, whatever, I crave lots of salt on it. I've tried sweets, and I have no probelm with them at all. i eat very little of them, because they just don't taste that great to me at all anymore, but bring on the salty foods.
