I am getting discouraged. I have lost 76-77 lbs. since my surgery on June 28, 2005 with another 21 lb lose before surgery. My problem now is that I have been at 216-218 for about 2 weeks and can not get lower. I thought I had broken through this level when it dropped down to 214 but the next day it was back up again. I have increased my exercising which I am have been lacking on. I am now riding my bike 3- 5 miles a day. I know to eat my protein first which I do. What can I do to get pass this plateau.....please help!

Dont be discuraged. This happens to all of us. You might be be working off fat and buliding muscle. Sounds to me that you are doing a great job and doing things right. Keep up the good work. You will lose the weight.

Don't get discouraged. Pay attention to the other things. Are people commenting on your loss? Can you tell a difference in your clothes? I've learned that a plateau on the scale means others can tell the difference. Our bodies need time to catch up. Keep on doing what you know you should, and try now to weigh in every day. You've lost 77 POUNDS in 6 months! That is so amazing! You know you're doing everything right. Keep up with your supplements and water, take a deep breath, and remember how much you gained during the holidays last year. (My mantra is that I won't gain during the holidays. This is the first year I've ever made that goal!) You might try mixing up your exercising (walking, swimming, playing games with kiddos), eating a more varied diet (more fruits and nuts seem to help me), and sometimes increasing calorie intake can jump start the losing again. Stress tells your body to conserve calories, so. . . fake it out. My loss has slowed down too, but I'm not activly "dieting", so I don't feel like I can complain. You now have this amazing tool that won't let you mess up without paying a high price. Let it do its job while you focus on being healthier and happier. The number on the scale is not the most important factor. It's just the easiest one to measure. My scale has been stagnant too for the last few weeks, even with being so sick, but I know when the numbers start dropping again they will fall fast. Keep your chin up, enjoy the holidays with your family, and vow to renew your efforts with the new year. Celebrate the changes in your health since this time last year, and Keep up the GREAT WORK! Happy New Year! Kristie

Hi, My name is Aleece and I had surgery June 9th. I have lost 97 pounds so far. I just spent the last two weeks at a loss of 93 and then this week it started dropping. Try taking measurements of yourself and look at those numbers. You may be losing inches. I have also tried to go back to the basics and get in all the protein and staying hydrated. I find on days I do not get enough liquids I eat the wrong things. Good luck and you'll see the pounds start dropping. I also make sure that I am attending my support group meetings. There are others who are going through the same thing. Remember, if you arew following the program the weight will fall. just think about how much better you feel. Good luck!

Thanks all for the encouragement. I missed November's support meeting and unfortunately they decided not to have one in December since they are alway at the end of the month. So now I have to wait until the last Tuesday in January for the next meeting. I have taken my measurments but can't see a great change yet. I sometimes think I don't measure the same way each time, lol. I am getting into some size 20 pants especially if the are the stretch kind. Again thanks for the support.

Hi Laural, If you could have the bad word I said and gesture I made to my scale this morninig you would have cracked up! That scale can be our friend one day and worst enemy for weeks. I, like you, had my surgery 6/28. I have lost 74 lbs with 9 of those being before surgery. My scale has barely moved since 12/5. I have hovered with the same 2-3 lbs, back and forth. I saw 165 on my scale a couple times, and I take it, but for the most part it's hovered between 166-167 for almost a month now. However...I have lost a clothing size or two depending on the fit, so I think my body is just tryng to catch up. Just keep doing what you are doing and you will continue to do great. My new years resolution will not be to start a new diet, but I think it's going to be to hide the scale and only get on it once a week. That will be a hard one, but I think it's something I need to do. Warmest wishes to you for a great happy and healthy new year. All the best, Debra 239/230/165-167/125

JUST continue to everything right and there are many factors for stalls. USUALLY when we are not looseing the pounds on the scale, we are looseing the acutally inches which are cool. MUSCLE weighs more then fat so that may be a factor. AND im sure your getting enough calories to not be in a starvation mode any. JUST releax and the weight will fall off in time lisa 310/188/???

I know it gets dicouraging at times but if you just keep at it, one morning it will fall off again. If you measure you will see it in inches when you don't see it on the scales. It will happen. If you are losing inches or pounds it doesn't matter you are still losing. Best of Luck to you. Happy New Year Deloris 309/288/180/150

Hello, When I started exercising I gained weight, because of muscle, don't worry it will balance out, keep up the good work. Hugs, Kemah
