Clothing sizes!!!
Hi all, I just wanted to see if anyone was getting frustrated with the whole size thing...I AM! I started out in a size 30..pants and top. I'm now kinda between sizes...my 22s are kinda baggy but I can't get into 20s yet...What bothers me is..I've lost 112lbs (hopefully more but I haven't weighed in 2 weeks) But I'm only down 5 sizes? Doesn't this sound strange? Don't get me wrong..I'm happy with my weight loss...I'm just confused on why my clothing size isn't dropping like the weight is. Well, everyone keep up the good work! And..Happy New Year!

Issy,
I think your sizes are pretty right on, I wore a 22 at 263 lb. and until I weighed about 230 lb., and just got into a 12 at 174 lb. So, that is 5 sizes for an 89 lb. loss. I also hear that the smaller you get the faster the sizes change. Hope this helps, you have done an amazing job and you will continue to loose!!! Don't worry! Jo
Issy, Don't get too frusterated! I have heard that it takes 20 lbs. to go down one size. And I also heard that that amount decreases as your sizes do as well. So, it sounds to me like you are doing GREAT and right on trac****ep up the good work. Before you know it you will be in those size 20's and they will be big on you too!
Best of Luck, Laura
Issy,
You and I are real close. I've lost 120 lbs now and I've only change sizes twice! I wore 30/32's and now I am wearing 22/24's. In the stretchy jeans I was a 28 now I'm in a 22. Hold on, we are getting there. It is harder for us that started at a higher weight. I feel jealous sometime's of the people in the 12's and below so soon after our surgery, but we have to remember that we knew going in that it was a longer journey for us. Another 6 months or so and me and you will be shopping at all the good stores!
It will be so worth the wait and boy the difference we will see!
Wendy
OK..so I'm not alone! Thank you soo much...It's just frustrating cause I'm like OK..I've lost a lot of weight....where did it come from if my clothes don't need to be any smaller...lol. Well, I'm just going to keep on doing what I've been doing and make it wor****ep up the good work!

Hi Issy,
How tall are you? I've dropped so many sizes because I'm only 4'10". My surgeon told me that my 75 lb weight loss is akin to an average size woman losing 150+. I'm now hovering between 165-166, and am wearing a size 12-14 pant now, down from a 28-30, and I weight 239 lbs!
I think you right on with your sizes. My sis had her surgery 7 weeks after me and has lost 72 lbs, weighs 219 (from 291) and is wearing between an 18-20, down from 24-26. Just keep up the great work, you are doing GREAT.
Have a happy newyear.
Love, Debra

Girl, I felt the same way in the first few months. I started out weighing 310lbs and when i lost my first 50lbs I was like why am I still wearing the same shirts abd pants. Now that I am this far out and I have lost 105 lbs and weigh 205lbs I realize how much I have lost and my old pants I can fit my two year old daughter and me in them. Its amazing. I went from a size 26w to a 15 in pants and shirts I was a 26-28 bordering 3xl to a xl 18-16. Its truely amazing. Dont worry you will get there. I think we all might go through that at one point. Good Luck and job well done.
Yeah, the smaller the sizes, the faster you go through them. I wonder how much of it is how we want them to fit, too. At 250, I wore a 24, mostly because I couldn't stand anything to fit too well. Now I'm in 10's that are snug, but I don't mind AT ALL. The larger sizes seemed to work for a 20 to 30 pound range, but now I need new clothes with every 10 to 15 lbs I lose. I'm not complaining, but I don't feel like I've gotten my money's worth out of these "smaller sizes". I was only in 18's about 3 weeks. The 14's I actually wore out - but I've gone straight to 10's. I'm picky about who I give my favorite things to because I feel like I'm being wasteful. What a problem to have!
I have never lost sizes while losing weight on the scale. My sizes have all changed during plateaus. It's the craziest thing. I have a whole new relationship with the scale now. I'm almost happy to hit a plateau.
Keep up the GREAT work!

Hi,
It is really easy to get caught up in the size thing. I am not paying attention to the sizes as much as the fit. I started out at 331 on June 8 and as of today I am 234. I have gone down in size and went from a 26-28 to a 1x on top and a 2 x on the bottom. I try some clothes and think about the fit versus the size. i picked up inexpensive ****s at Target for under $5.00. Wear what feels right. Every manufacturer is different. i told someone that I must have looked like a sausage stuffed into a casing before. Good luck!
