WOW Moments of 2005 & Happy New Year
Hello my fellow Juners!
It is so hard to believe that it's the end of the year already. What a year it's been! These are just a few of the amazing and wonderful changes that have taken place in the last year.....
My diabetes is gone.
My hypertension is gone.
My sleep apnea is gone.
My cholesterol is normal for the first time in over 20 years.
I can go up the stairs without being winded...lots of times!
I can bend over and tie my shoes without my face turning purple.
I can fit in my bathtub to take a real bath!
I fit in an airplane seat without a seatbelt extender, and even fit in the little bathroom on the plane.
I went from a size 28-30 to a size 12-14.
Top size from a 3-4X down to a Medium
My shoe size is now 5 1/2 W or 6 regular, down from 6 1/2 wide/7 reg
My ring size dropped from a 7.5 to 5.75
I can squat down and get back up without assistance.
I can fit in a regular seat at the movies.
I can finally put the seat all the way up in the car to reach the pedals.
I CAN CROSS MY LEGS!
I can see places on my body I haven't been able to see in many years.
Intimacy with my hubby is greatly improved!
My self confidence is greatly improved.
I have a smile on my face 90% of the time!
These are just a few of the things. Everyday it's something new to discover.
Yesterday I went to Northern Reflections to buy some clothes and discovered that I now wear a size 12-14 in dress pants! I cried in the dressing room.
Even with all the bumps in the road (and I've had my fair share) I would certainly do this all over again. It's the best decision I've ever made for myself. I want to wish everyone a very happy and healthy New Year! You guys are the very best.
God Bless,
Debra

PS: By the way, I've only lost a couple pounds all month. Waiting for the whooshie fairy to come by again! But, I went from a size 16 to a 12-14, so I guess my body's doing some major adjusting.
Dear Debra,
What a wonderful year you've had!
I had my surgery on the same day and I've lost 80 pounds. I've gone from a 3-4X to an 18-20 and my too-tight shoes are now too big. My winter coat which I couldn't button last year is enormous!! Next week I am off to Chicago to visit my daughter,SIL, and 3 "delicious" granddaughters. I have the seat belt extender in my suitcase. I'll bring it on and hopefully I won't need it and I'll LEAVE IT!!!!
We Juners are an awesome bunch and I look forward to sharing many WOW moments with you all.
Love,
Betsy

Awww Debra,
You are such a cutie pie (your picture is gorgeous-mine doesn't even look like me anymore but I don't have a new one!) and soooo grateful ,as I am, for this surgery! I know that even though we all get down now and then and need to reach out for support, we are also recognizing what a huge gift, a miracle really that this surgery is after feeling so yucky for so long about our weight. Thanks so much for sharing your grateful heart and hugs to you!!!
Happy New Year! Jo
