Increase fat intake/increase wgt. loss

Here's something very strange. I normally eat very little added fat. I have Peanut Butter 5 times per week, and butter on my toast the other 2 days a week. That's it for added fat. I am 6 1/2 mths post-op (down 109 lbs.) and my wgt. loss has slowed down dramatically, until I have eaten horribly this past week, with lots of added fat, fat-filled dips, etc. Now the scale has started to move again. I partiallly attribute it to the fact that I'm spending lots of time in the bathroom! ;o) But did this jump start things. I have stopped, as of today, eating all that fat, but I am curious. Has this happened to anyone else? Maybe I wasn't eating enough calories before. Thanks! Teresa Lap RNY/June 8, 2005 350.4/241.0/150.0

WHAT i hate to say Teresa Ann is by adding the fat, you get more calories and your not in a starvation mode. PUTTING in the more fat makes our high protein, lo carb way more like the way you do it on ATKINS! AND it does work! I know some might get ill from the fat post op but i know i dont! KEEP up the great looseing. HOPE YOUR holidays were grand! JUST dont let the fat get to out of hand but it is a safe way to bring up the calories and stay out of starvation mode were the body holds onto the pounds and wont let them goo! Teresa, Lisa is correct. It sounds like you may have been in starvation mode and the increase in calories took your body out of that mode. Just be careful about too much saturated fat. It is hard on you heart. Eat good fat but remember to make most of your calories from Protien. Chip

Theresa, I can not tolerate any fat! I dump with fat so I stay away from it. The only "butter" that I use is the spray which hasn't any fat. I also can not tolerate beef, pork, chicken, or fish.....I had a wonderful standing rib roast for the 24th and ended up sick for about 5 hours after I ate it. My surgeon is trying to help me find something that will help but nothing has yet. I had my gallbladder removed about 3 months ago and that hasn't helped. He put me on pancreatic enzymes to aid the digestion but that hasn't worked yet....to make a long story short I have lost 176 pounds without added fat in my diet! I get plenty of protein and I know that we are not supposed to count calories but I still do. I don't even eat 400 calories a day. I feel that our body just have to catch up with the weigh loss and we will maintain for a week or two...then there will be a drop. You are doing a great job! I just noticed your weight loss! Keep up the good work! Sue 320/144/130 goal

Let me tell you that I feel like I'm doing Atkins because I can't eat any kind of bread (I have mild dumping with it) and I can only eat a bite of any kind of pasta blaaaaaaa I'm slow but steady, but lately I have been having bad eating days and that just means I can't stand the thought of eating anything so I know part of my slow loosing has to do with not eating enough. And not to be random or anything but the only meat I can't eat is Pot Roast and I have no idea why? I dumped the last 3 times I tried eating it, you would think I'd learn my lessing the first 2 times lol.
