6 Month Post Op-Slight Disappointment/Goal Weight?
It is always tough to go into the doctor's office and get weighed. This morning I weighed in naked at 163.5. I was so excited at the thought of being in the 160's. I then dressed for work and weighed with everything on including shoes. I weighed in at 168.5. I thought ok...clothes and boots...boots are pretty heavy...I even switched shoes to see if that would give me a slight advantage. It only gave me a 1/2 a pound so I opted to wear my boots and keep my feet warm.
So I get to the doctor's office, and I weigh in at 170! I was so ticked. I just wanted the scale to be in the 160's! So I guess my scale must be off by 1.5.
Good news though. I am really 5 foot 6 1/2. I had them take my height measurement today, because they had me down at 5 foot 5 inches. I thought this was strange, but I didn't argue with them because I wanted to get approved for the surgery! And I thought that this would help my case so I kept my mouth shut, but now that this is not working in my favor I thought I should speak up and see.
According to the weight planner, I should weigh 142 pounds at 5 foot 6. At 5 foot 5, I was shooting for 138. I guess this means I have four pounds less to lose.
I think 142 sounds like a lot. So I went onto Weigh****chers, the weight range is 124-148.
How are you ladies coming up with your goal weight? Are you using the Weight Planner on this site or are you using something else? My doctor says that 145 is a good weight for me. If this is the case, then I really only have 25 pounds to lose. (Really, 18.5 pounds if I am weighing naked on my scale.)
I am in a size 12 now, and I can fit into some size 10's. Help me ladies...how do you know what is normal? I have lost a total of 74 pounds according to my doctor. This is good, but I want to hit goal---whatever that should be.
I was told that my weight loss will slow now. I should expect a 10-15 pound weight loss by my next 9 month follow up. Were you ladies told the same thing?
244/170/145-138????
Tell me ladies...what sounds like a reasonable goal weight? Now that I have gained an 1 1/2 of height.....this helps.
What time did you go to the Dr.? If you went after you ate/drank, then it would be up some. Just remember, 2 8 oz. cups of water will weigh 1 lb. on the scale if you don't use the bathroom. Even if you do use the bathroom, you do not void it all until the next morning. I think you're doing great! Hang in there. ~husg~ Teresa

Well, I don't even really know what my goal is anymore. I started this journey with a goal of 125 - based purely on my mother's height, weight, structure. I figured we are the same height (5'5") and have the same structure.
Originally, my surgeon told me he'd like to see me between 133-150
but at my six month appt, I think I weighed in at 168, he said I would probably only lose about 10 more pounds and stay there. That really let the wind out of my sails. But the more I think about it, the more I think he's just wrong about this one.
I don't know what the right answer is. I think I'm just gonna keep eating like I should be...drinking my water....taking my vitamins and see where I end up.....hoping for the best, of course!
Good luck!

Well, I got my goal from my surgeon. He said 125. But my best friend who is the same height and structure as me is 118, and she looks very good so I would like to get that low eventually. I have never been below 128, and that was only for a few months.
About your surgeon's comment on only losing 10-15 more lbs by your 9 month mark, I don't know about that. I wasn't told that at all. My surgeon said that he thinks I will be at goal within the next 3 to 4 months. He said as long as I followed the rules I would keep on losing steadily, and to make sure I exercised at least a few times per week.
Since I have seen him (Dec 7th) I have lost another 6 lbs, so I have hope. I have 34 lbs left until goal, but honestly I will be doing the happy dance when I lose about 20 more!!
Good luck!!!!!!!! I am over here cheering you on to make that goal weight!
