I had surgery 08/24/2005, but I thought I would read the June board to see if anyone has experienced anything like I have been going through this past month. I had lost 60 pounds a couple of weeks before my three month anniversary and have not lost a pound since. It has been almost five weeks since a pound has come off of my body. What the heck? I have not lost any inches either. Did anyone go through this?

Oh my goodness! At 4 months out every one of us stalled. It was crazy, I am sure it is normal at that stage. Don't freak out it starts back up again. A lot of us found that upping our calories helped tremendously. We were in starvation mode. You should try upping to around 800-1000 calories and see if that helps. Wendy Daly

Yeppers..... you have been formally introduced to the "plateau." Everyone of us ha**** at least one. At 6 1/2 months out, I have hit two. My latest one JUST ended this past week. I was stuck (up and down between 165 and 168). Then, Saturday 163....Sunday 162....Monday 161!!! *whew* I was getting scared that it was all over. I think our bodies just have to take some time to adjust and learn what it is like to live and function at this weight...with this much food. Then something happens and it says "oh, okay....I can spare some" and it picks back up again. Just keep following the rules and drinking your water. You will be victorious. One thing I've been doing that kind of helps me through it: I always have a pair of absolutely too tight jeans on hand. Every weekend, I try them on. I haven't been measured in MONTHS....so the too tight jeans is my trick. During this last plateau, I got into my last pair of too tight jeans and lo and behold.....they weren't too tight anymore! I could tuck my shirt in 'em, sit, squat, and even had loose material. So....this coming weekend, I am going out to get my next pair of too tight jeans. It blows my mind how that can happen without any progress on the scale.....but it keeps me hopeful too! Best of luck to you....sending the whooshie fairy your way Pam

Hi Sherry, I echo the responses before me. At four months everyone seems to hit what I so affectionately call "The four month wall*. For some it happens right around their four month anniversary, others it takes a week or so. But for all we hit it. My weight loss goes in spurts. I will lose 4-5 lbs in a week, then nothing for 1-2 weeks. But my clothing size has changed each month. 60 lbs in three months is a lot to lose. Your body is just taking it's healthy break right now. I know it's frustrating but the scale will move again, I promise. Just make sure you are getting enough protein and drink plenty of water. Your body will start losing when it's ready. I am six monnths out and have lost 65 lbs since surgery and 74 lbs total, so I think you are doing great! Good luck and try not to be a slave to the scale . All the best, Debra 239/165/125
