went to the GASTRO DOCTOR
Well today i went to the GASTRO. Doctor that my surgeon suggested
being i had suffered 10 days of diarreah (when i scheduled the appointment 14 till i rided the virus)that drove me nuts. Of course i have been better for 48 hours now but felt i need to have a gastro. doctor should anything arise with my new anatomy! SO i kept the appointment and was glad i did.
Well he said i most probably had some sort of bacteria virus or a reaction to a bad food. ITS very normal for bypass patients to take longer to fight the virus out being
our stomachs are smaller, less of the productive fighting juices to fight
off such. I was glad to learn i was not out of my mind having this so long.
I knew i wasnt eating foods that would cause this. NOTHING in my diet changed. SO i was so glad to hear that this is to be expected after surgery
for these types of viruses.
MY regular PCP told me no way a virus would last more then 24 hours but he isnt as well versed and up on gastric bypass patients but my GASTRO doctor was. So in a few months i may do a routine colonoscopy but for now all is fine.
TOLD me no products will help the other problem that arose from the 14 days of diarreah. SO i hope this post helps anyone else who goes thru something longer then the normal bug and feels frustrated!
I am back to my self!
EATING as i did before this bug.
GETTING in my fluids...not staying away from dairy and doing well again!
SO good luck!

Thanks, Lisa!
This is definitely "good-to-know" information... I've been fortunate enough to not get sick thus far, but, feel better prepared now should I come down with something also. All of these experiences are so new to all of us, that it is great to share what we learn along the way.
I appreciate your continued support and am really glad that you are feeling much better now!!!
Thanks,
Karen

Lisa,
I am so glad you are feeling better. That was a lonnnnnngggg two weeks I am sure. I am happy you went to a Dr. that new what he was talking about. Did two weeks of being sick just wipe you out or are you getting your energy back?
I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can avoid these bugs this winter. Take Care and I really am so glad you are better.
Hugs~ Gayle
Well the two weeks when sick i was with anty energy nothing. I wasnt eating enough, i know i wasnt drinking enough and one day even closed my busienss down which i rarely do but i was soo weak, dehydrated and horrible.
ONCE that stopped my appetitie returned now ( i was always a hungry person since surgery, i know some arent) and i feel 100 percent fine.
I will recommend that all of us make sure we have DOCTORS that understand our bypass surgery. I thought my primary doctor did till this situation. I was told a virus doesnt last this long (but 24 to 48 hours) and that i must be eating wrong foods with my surgery. I dont do that i have a huge fear to find im not a dumper and loose control of the good health and awesome looseing i been having.
I do feel well again but wanted everyone to know that viruses for us may take longer to RID!
THANKS ALL!
be well and go get all those last mintue holiday shoppings
done!
