Hi all, Happy Thanksgiving to you all my friends. Well, I got the news today. I'm having surgery next Thursday, 12/1 to remove my gallbladder and those pretty little stones that have accumulated. I had my first "attack" last month when I was in Bethesda. It's just gotten worse since then. So Monday I had an ultrasound which showed multiple stones. Saw my husband's cousin Dr. Steve Barker in Syracuse today and he scheduled me for next Thursday. Wish me luck. Maybe this is why my scale hasn't moved too much in the last month, and why I haven't felt like eating. Love you all my friends. Deb

Aw Deb, I'm sorry you are going through this. Those gall bladder attacks are miserable. I had an attack in August that lasted almost two weeks, but they didn't see any stones...and it went away all by itself. I was told to have mine out about 5 years ago because there was stones in it then but I didn't do it...and when I had my pre-op testing it showed no stones, so the doc didn't take it out. I just know it's coming one day. I hope you are feeling better soon. I'll be thinking of you on the 1st. Pam

Deb, I had mine taken out at the end of September. I had a lot of upper right quadrant pain and my surgeon did a HIDA scan. I had chronic coliosystitis.....another name for a bad gallbladder. I was able to have it done lap so no big scar....healed very well and lost about 15 pounds with the surgery! I do think it was harder to recover from than the open RNY! Good luck with your surgery! It will be over before you know it and the pain will go away! Happy Thanksgiving! Sue

I'm kind of a lucky girl, my surgeon found a stone at the time of my RNY so it came out then, whew... Good luck Deb, you'll feel so much better when this is over, and I'll bet you'll lose too... Happy Thanksgiving!!! ((((((((((((((((((HUGs)))))))))))))))))))))))))) Jo

GOOD LUCK! be well and sorry to hear you need this surgery. I took meds to help prevent stones in my gall bladder since surgery. I have stopped now that i loose at a slower rate. I hope it prevents me to need that surgery. GOOD LUCK LOVE LISA

Hi Deb Although having to have surgery again is a bummer, you will feel so much better once it is out! I had my first attacks when I was pregnant with my daughter 11 years ago, but after delivery they subsided for years, and then started again about 3 years ago. I had it taken out in June of 2003, and I was really glad that I did. Those pains were horrible! The gallbladder recovery seemed to be a breeze. I did not have a lot of pain with it. It was much easier than the RNY. Best wishes for your surgery and a speedy recovery! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Leslie

Dear friends, Thank you so much for your kind replies. I am not worried about the surgery itself as I really trust Steve (Dr. Barker) to do a great job. And from my husband, he says it's not too bad. I just really hate the idea of anesthesia. After the debacle for my first wls (you can read it in my profile 6/18), anesthesia just scares me. I also feel like absolute crap after anesthesia. Hopefully I put that across to the anesthesiologist good enough that they give me some good anti-nausea medicine during surgery. At any rate I don't know what I'd do without all of you. By the way I was 175 this morning (two days in a row), so I think I finally moved off that darn 177. Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. Love, Deb 239/175/125
