My turn with the big stall
Good morning my friends,
Okay, I'm trying really hard not to get discouraged. My surgery was the end of June, so I guess I've just caught up to my early June friends. I have been on a stall for 3 weeks now. My weight has stayed between 177-178 since the 20th of October. This morning I finally saw 176.5.
My two sisters had their appointments with the NP and Nutritionist on Monday and I asked questions also. She told me to decrease my calories and increase my exercise. Okay, so the exercise part I could increase a bit, but heck I'm only taking in between 500-700 calories a day and that's mostly protein. I'm drinking all of my liquids and I don't sit still for very long (very busy and always on the move). I go up and down my stairs about 50 times a time at least.
I also wanted to ask you guys how much you can eat. If I'm eating mushy food like cottage cheese (by itself) I can take in no more than 1/2 cup. Solid food is less than 1/2 cup. The nutritionist told me that 1/2 cup is too much. But when I read the stage three menu it's a 1/2 cup of food. Like 2 oz of meat or chesse and 1/4 of fruit or veggies, or 1/2 slice of bread. Now I don't know about you but I'm pretty sure that adds up to 1/2 cup or 4 oz of food.
Sorry for venting this morning. I will say that although I haven't lost any weight in 3 weeks that I did drop a pant size and lost 23", so I know it's not a plateau, just an adjustment. But it's still frustrating, and I know what my early Junebugs went through now. Thanks for listening.
Love you all, Debra
HEY DEBRA!
I have to say my slo down finally stopped after about 3 or 4 weeks of the same up and down few pounds......and maybe a 1 lb loss thru those weeks too...I did put the strawberries and lo fat chool whip on my menu last week and i did drop 5 lbs last week. THIS week its continuing to drop was it the berries was it gonna break anyway i dont know.
I dont know DEBRA...there are meals i eat 1/2 cup other times i eat more and less its wierd. I wouldnt down your calories.....i think u eat too few to start with. I am a big believer of the less food you eat the more your body will hold on and not release the fat.
I think u just have to be patient. REMEMBEr when the scale isnt moveing you
are getting smaller with the visual inches...our bodies cant do both at once. JUST go with the flo and i know how hard and depressing it is....
I have been hoovering the single 200 digits for almost 2 months now and i am just dieing to get in those 100's.......but i know it will come and i know without our tool i would never be where i am now with weight loss.

Hi Lisa,
Thanks so much for your kind reply. I'm really learning that patience is the key to this whole process from chewing to stalling! It's good to know that the scale will move again. You guys are awesome. I do read this board every single day.
You are so going to be in Onederland soon, I can just feel it!
Love, Debra

Debra,
I had the same stall....then last week I lost 4 pounds. It is moving again!
As far as foods go I am not the person to ask! I am not eating much of anything. Everything bothers my pouch. I am able to eat turkey and my calorie intake is about 300-350 calories a day. My doc is quite concerned. I talked to the nutritionist on Monday and she wants me to eat 800 calories a day! She wants me to eat 6 small meals a day. Hard to do when the only thing I eat is turkey and white cheese. Everything else either hurts or gives me diarrhea. I am also lactose intolerant so that speeds things up too if you know what I mean. I do get my protein in with my drinks but they still aren't happy.....
I know that I am supposed to eat 1/4 cup of food at a meal though....
You will soon start the downward trend again! Just be patient.

Hi Debra!
May I suggest increasing your calories... perhaps with protein drinks! That is what I found helped!!! I was taking in more calories than you and when I just increased them, I seemed to have tricked my body and began loosing weight again!
Just a thought.... don't loose faith! You are getting close to goal so your body is going to slow down, for sure!!
Hang in there!
Your wls friend Sandy
Hi Debra - Thanks for sharing, everyone on this board is great, while I don't post often I read alot . I started my stall last week, I didn't loose anything last week and it looks like it will be the same this week. I have pushed up my exercise a bit more and I am watching my calories although not to worried about it, since I don't think we can eat too much unless we are really breaking all the rules . I haven't really figured out how many cal.'s I am taking in and will be tracking that for an upcoming Dr.'s apt. so we can discuss a future plan
As for consuming food, some days I think I can eat the world and others I am lucky if I can finish a meal. Most of the time my pouch is pretty happy so I am lucky . I can eat about 3 oz. of protein at a sitting and dinner is usually broken into 1/4 cup portions of what we are having and it is usually not more then a cup of food.
I am hoping that the hair loss that I am experiencing like everyone else slows down so I am not bald soon.
Thanks to everyone all your kind words and encouragement is great for those of us wo read but don't post often too!
Hi Melissa,
Yup, you and I are not too far apart in our surgery dates. I remember in mid to late October when the early October Juners were on their stalls. I was praying it wouldn't happen to me, but here I am. I also know from their experience that this does end, so I'm just hanging in there.
Keep up the good work.
Take care, Debra
You sound like you are doing fine. I was at 198 and started excersicing more and gained a pound and lost a pound and gained a pound and I am hoving back and forth now. Frustrating but I know it will improve. I eat appox a 1/2 cup at a meal but sometimes more and sometimes less. I only get between 600-800 calories a day. I think these stalls are just the body adjusting and sometimes it takes longer than we want it too. You are doing awesome. Hugs and I will be gone for a week or so. Happy Thanksgiving and have faith the weight will drop again.
