Health Odyssey & Thanks!
Hello All,
First off I want to thank all of you *****sponded to my DONUT posting. Your support, kindness and words of wisdom were really helpful.
As I had stated in that post, a few weeks ago I was diagnosed with Hyperparathyroidism. One of my four parathyroids had an edenoma on it and was causing my calcium levels to go higher and higher in my body but sending nothing to my bones. High calcium levels can really wreak havoc with other parts of your body and cause you to feel extremely ill and fatigued.
After several CT scans, ultra-sounds and radioactive scans they located the bad gland and I had surgery yesterday to take it out! A small incision at the base of my neck and a few stitches later I don't feel too bad.
The horrible headache I had for weeks is already gone and I am feeling bored and itchy to get moving.
This was all completely unrelated to my gastric bypass but in light of that surgery my fatigue and weakness seemed typical until they stumbled on the calcium thing. I'm so thankful for a positive and sharp surgeon, it makes all the difference.
So thank you all for your kindness and encouragement. In some ways I feel like I am starating over! I'm not hungry which is good, and I'm going to be very careful about protien and water!
Thanks for listening -
