Hi All, I am relatively new to this board, actually this will only be my second post. I had surgery 6/22/05, so I am almost 4 months out. I have lost a total of 63lbs to date, which I think is very good. God knows, it is more than I could have lost on my own with out having had surgery. I try very hard not to get hung up on the numbres but right now that is hard because the scale seems to be stuck. How do I get it moving again? I don't know if its because I am eating too much, making poor choices, etc. I want to get back on track, but I am struggling. Any advice? Thanks ~ Christine

Hey there frank- I had WLS the day before you- so I understand your plight- believe me!! I was stuck for 2 weeks!! I increased my protein intake, watched my calories and increased fluids, also increased the workouts- now it is getting back on track. All the same crap we used to do to lose weight and got no where actually seems to work now!! Take care- good luck! Erica

Plateau's are actually pretty normal. Start taking some body measurments. Usually, when you take a break in the weight loss, your body is actually adjusting physically. You can see it in the inches that come off. You'll start loosing again, just be patient and keep doing what you should be doing. If it makes you feel any better, take you eating back a phase. If you are eating solids, go back to softs and pureeds. Change things around a little and see what happens. Hi Christine, I feel your pain. I had surgery the day after you. I've lost 61 lbs. My scales have fluctuated up and down .4 lb for over a week. It's really frustrating because I know that I'm not eating too much and I'm getting in my protein. I've heard, too, that when your scale isn't moving, the inches are. I'm sure hoping that that is the case. Hang in there... we'll all be okay. Kerri

I know about it! If you go back and read the old posts, starting at about the end of July, really, you'll see we've been going on and on and on ... about this very thing. I've found that eating a bit more usually helps get it going again - especially fresh fruits like strawberries. And fluids, and being patient. You know you're not cheating, and that's why many doctors discourage us from weighing at home or at least more than once a week! When it starts back up, it will catch you off guard, and you'll be thrilled with the results. Remember, slower is better in the long run, anyway. Think of how long it took you to find the weight. You've already lost it so much faster! Good Luck! Kristie

I agree with Keetara. If we are doing what we are told by the medical professionals to do and we are seeing no real difference at one time or another on the scale -- our bodies could be gaining mussel and regrouping where it may not show on the scale but would with a tape measure. 'Hang in there. You're not alone.
