Hi all, I saw my nutritionist today and she said I am not eating enough! She said I should be eating between 800-1000 calories per day. I do get in all my protein and all of my fluids. How are you all doing for calorie intake? ~Robin 285/228/150

I just asked our nurse who runs our support group this same question. She told me that we really shouldn't be counting calories right now. Our program has 3 main components 1. Protein at 90-120g 2. Carbs at 75 or under 3. At least 64 oz. of water. I recently upped my calories and water and seem to be losing faster now. Every program is a little different, so go with what your doctor says. Good luck!! Kerri

It is so crazy, programs are all so different and I just question how much the nutritionists really understand about this surgery sometimes. I am not saying that about yours, just a general comment. My program, which has a great reputation, has been around for 25 years with great success and great outcomes says at 3-4 months out, stick to around 500 calories and never more than 700 or so in the 1st year to maximize this rare time we have to really lose. When I asked about the "starvation" mode the body gets in aned doesn't lose, she said it won't happen if you are eating 3 meals, protein 1st. There is just so much variation between what we are told. I try for 500 but today I ended up with 700. I don't think I could get in 800 to 1000 yet though, I am too full most of the time eating what I do... I guess I'll stick to what I am doing. Maybe you should do what your program says. I really wonder about all these differences, don't you? I am not helping, am I? Jo

I dont count my calories at all. I just make sure my protein is where my surgeon and nutritionist want it to be. I have no complaints about my looseing so i dont want to change a thing. MY blood work at 3 months was perfect so i imagine all is fine! GOOD LUCK! I do believe the more protein we eat, the faster we will loose. LISA 310/216/onderland somewhere

I agree with Jo. My doctor says the same thing. Funny how they all differ? Well as long as it works for you, do it. I eat 500-700 cal. 70-90 protein, under 25g of fat and less than 30 carbs but don't always make it. I go over the carbs at times but under at times. I don't do a daily average, I average by the week makes my life less complicated. Good Luck, Deloris 309/288/215/135
