In AR after Katrina.
Hi ya'll. I have been displaced thanks to Katrina and am being sheltered by a church in AR. Unsure when I will be home. I have to use the computer whenever and wherever I can, and am usually looking for work when on it, so haven't been able to post. I am unsure where I am w/ weightloss as I have no scale. I did weigh a week after Katrina and had lost 12 lbs in one week. (haven't been eating) I am trying to be more aware now of my protein etc, as I have been getting dizzy. Just wanted to let you guys know my family and I are okay and just trying to make it one day at a time.
Kelli Jo,
I hope everything goes well and you are back home in no time.
Living away from your routine and home sucks.
I was getting dizzy 4 weeks post op, it was a sign of not enough protein and enemia.
Make sure you eat your protein!
Sent my cheque to the Red Cross to help out, hope it reaches you.
Silly.
Silly,
Thanks for the help!!! Yes the Red Cross has helped me. And the military fed us last night. We are home cleaning up for a few days then back to AR. I have some things to rap up there, including my daughter seeing a dentist, so once that is done, then we will come home. Our home is livable, just unsure if or when I will be back to work. If not, I may have to relocate. Thanks again.
Kelli Jo,
I wondered about you, and I am so concerned about you now that I know you are away from home and don't have the things you need. Recovery is hard enough and now you are in very tough situation. I will be praying for you and hope that you keep in touch with us and let us know how you are doing. I too made a rather large donation to the Red Cross from my vacation/personal time at work. I too hope that it makes a difference for you. Thinking of you and saying my prayers for all of you affected by Katrina. Jo
Jo Ellen ,
Thanks, and thank you so much for your donation. They need it. They gave me close to $1000, as well as clothes, food, medical help. There are so many displaced that all the help they can get is needed. Plus, I saw where we can go get a hot meal from them today, although the MREs we ate last night were good.
I am home cleaning up for a few days, then back to AR. My home is livable, yeah!!!!! We were so happy to come home and find electricity, and cable tv. And today the interenet came up. My phone should be on today (we'll see if it works as my cell is having trouble working) We feel blessed. We are about 1/4 of the way finished w/ cleaning the yard of trees and debris. The bugs are outrageous. There are nests of wasps, ants, spiders all over. So I bought a bunch of bug sprays.
I thought I could salvage my fridge, but even with me cleaning it a week after the hurricane, there is still maggot eggs in it. I guess from the electricity being off and whatever may have been hiding that I couldn't get out. So I guess that will have to be replaced. We still feel fortunate as so many losts everything.
I'll keep ya'll posted. If I can't get back to work I may have to relocate.
