Hi All I just want to first say all of you really are angels, I have read some of the letters and replys and you are all really great at being supporters I hope someone can reassure me that I did the right thing. I have my surgery on June 22, 05, and every since that day I have regretted that I went through with it. The surgeon accidently hit my Panacreus during surgery and I got panacrutitus I was extremely sick for 8 to 9 weeks. I ended up back in the hospital 8 different times, and the last time I came home I had to take my IV with me and I am still on TPN (its a food supplement-liquid) I am still not to a point where I can eat foods, I've lost 60 pounds since my surgery date, I just need to know that I will get through this and will feel normal again. Can Someone help me.

Tamey, We are here for you girl. I am so sorry to hear about your struggle w/ WLS. You did the right thing with having the surgery. It really sucks that your dr. hit your panacreus during surgery. But, on the brighter side...you have lost 60lbs in 3 months. That's amazing. We had surgery on the same date and I've only lost 55lbs. Considering all the trama you've been through I would have thought you would have lost 75lbs or more. You are very lucky that your body is holding up so well to all of the additional surgeries. Trust me...stay on the food supplement liquids...once you taste real food...the tempation is great. I am so wanting a cookie...but I have to stay focus. We all had this surgery for a reason. Quite frankly we were sick and tired of being FAT !! This is our time to shine. You are doing wonderful. It's been a rough start but you have the rest of your life to live as a thin person. Please try to stay positive and know we are here for you to vent, cry or in need of some encouraging words. You are going to be fabulous in no time. Take Care Crystal

I'm so sorry for all that you have been through. Your journey has gotten off to such a rocky start. I can tell you that you will pull through this- stay focused on why you wanted to have the surgery in the first place. I'm sure you had tried every other alternative like I had. You have lost 60 lbs. that will never be back on your body again. I wi**** would have come off in a different way, I know you do too. Believe in yourself- you are strong and you will absolutely get through this! As for feeling normal again... who wants to go back to the way we were? You will be able to eat again soon, and then you will be able to start living your life to it's fullest. A life not subject to the bondage of our weight. My prayers are with you. Kerri

Tamey, What does the doctor say about your healing from the Pancreatitis? How long will you need the IV and TPN? Does he/she think you will recover soon from this or are you dealing with long term consequences of his/her error? I would like to assume this part of the healing is over for you now and you are on your way to enjoying your weight loss and live your life as a new you. You surely deserve it and you deserve some answers too. I will say a prayer for you and that you heal soon. The weight loss and the benefits are so great, and so much fun. I am praying and hoping for you that you will experience it very, very soon. Jo

Hi Tamey, I am so sorry to hear about your troubles! It is so unfortunate that doctor's are subject to human error and that when they make one, there is a human being on the other end. I met a woman yesterday who had awfu problems for several months. Ended up in surgery 3 times..sceptic and all. She came through. I wish I knew more medically so I could ease your fears, but I will pray for you at least! That's all I can do... Follw your doctor's instructions. It seems that people who go through tough times with this do come out of it ok in the end. I surely hope that includes you, and SOON!!!! Best of luck and God bless! Rossana

I can't help, except to say that once you "get over" the healing part of this surgery, it is all wonderful! Yeah, it's a pain to remember vitamins and supplements and fluids and ... but the quality of life is so much better! My surgery was a week before yours and I'm down about 50 lbs. I eat pretty much what I want (pot roast - roast beef to you Yankees - doesn't like me) but with such reduced portions ('cause I get full), I'm still a big loser! I had decided quite a while back that if I could just get under 200 lbs again, I would be satisfied and healthy enough. As far as I'm concerned, every additional pound is lagniappe! (A little something extra, for you Yanks!) I'm back to my regular schedule and activities, and I also (try) go to the gym in the mornings and walk 3-4 miles in the evenings. Scheduling doesn't always work out, but... With the hurricane evacuee needs, I've been lifting and stretching and throwing and moving heavy items. For a little while it was difficult, but none of the physical labor bothers me at all anymore. You're just a few weeks behind us in the healing process, but give yourself a little time. You've gone through a lot! Once you're really on your feet, you will really be able to appreciate the sleeker profile in the mirror. And you'll be able to start walking and working out - that will make such a difference in your profile and in your strength. Probably what you're missing so much now. Good luck, and always remember that you can lean on us when you need a lift! Kristie
