Hi all, is anyone taking the drug Actigall aka Urosodial? I have developed an itchy skin rash on arms and legs. I have been to the dermatologist twice and given two different prescriptions to help, but it continues to be very bothersome to me. It resembles hives or an allergic reaction. I have even tried Benedryl without much success. I read tonight that the drug Actigall (taken to prevent gallstone formation) can cause this type of reaction. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what did your doctor advise you to do? I have had this for over a month and a half now, and I am so miserable with it. I would appreciate any advice. My surgery date was 6-14-05. Thanks!

I had something similar on my stomach and it was very itchy. it went away for awhile then it came back. But it is gone again. I asked my doctor about it and he didnt think that it was due to anything to do with the surgery. But now with what you have said, I wonder if he is wrong. Hopefully yours will go away also. I am hoping mine does not come back. Lynn

I have been taking the Actigall for years prior to surgery (even though I don't have a gall bladder anymore, I still spit gall stones). I never had that kind of a reactions. Anyway, I was beginning to have some of the same problems post-op. Itching, dry, red skin, and scratching to the point of doing damage. I had heard that taking Dry Vitamin E might help. I am now taking about 800mg per day (in two doses). The itching and dry skin has mostly gone away. This might be something you could try.
