Protien Bars
Hi Everyone..
I had my checkup, but it was only to find out how I was doing after I had been dehydrated. So I didnt have blood work or anything. That is on the 29th of Sept. Everything is going along fine though, so that is a good thing. I lost 3 lbs, so that makes me at one shy of 50. I am tempted to weigh again to just get that other pound gone. But I will wait till Tuesday. I do have a question for you all though. My nut. told me that as far as protein bars go that they should always have more protein than carbs. Does anyone have any really good protein bars that they eat that taste good? With being back to work, its hard to get my protein in.

MY favorite is the ATKINS PEANUT GRANOLA bar!
has lo carb cause its atkins.....and it has 17 grams of
protein.
I do not use these foods every day. BUT once a week if i am on the go for a meal it comes in handy. I was very fortunate to get a taste before i bought one at a WLS friends home. Actually the suffolk county chapter leader gave me one and i use them when i need too.
I love the South Beach Diet meal replacement bars (choclate peanut butter). There are more carbs than protein but 17 of the 26 grams of carbs are sugar-alcohol (artificial sweatener) and 6 are from fiber. There is less than one gram of sugar. The net impact carbs are 3 grams and there are 19 grams of protien. I usually can only eat 1/2 to 3/4 of a bar before full.

My favorite so far is the PowerCrunch bar... so yummy that you have to be carefull not to eat them too fast!!!!
They are a Creme Filled Wafer Cookie, come in several flavors and contain the following:
High Protein, low carb snack, lite, crunchy, incredibly delicious...
Each 38g cookie contains 14 g Proto Whey Protein, 9g fat, 85mg sodium, and 4g sugar.
? High Protein Energy Snack
? Made with Proto Whey® Protein
? Glutamine Enriched
There is a link to The Smart Health Store on OH's website. They state that they give OH users a discount.

Carla,
I love the Detour bars....UTurn....One Way...and there is another that signs like a street sign. You can get them at WalMart, Target... or Vitamin World or the Vitamin Shoppe. I also like the All in One Bars. They are made by Dexatrim. When I buy a bar I make sure that I am getting at least 10 grams of protein for every 100 calories. I also only eat about 1/4 at a time to suppliment or as a treat. I haven't used them for meals but if you are working there is quite a bit of protein in the bars for the calories.
Down......131 pounds.....61 since surgery!
