Here lately everything is making my stomach feel very uneasy. I am only two months out and was wondering has anyone else experienced this at this point? i am eating a more variety of foods but some things i liked before make me nauseated just looking at them now! I keep trying to tell myself that its because im eating too much of a bite or too quickly but im trying tobe more conscisous of it now... I know i am not eating enough protein....im trying to eat as much as possible but protein shakes and powders are impossible! My breath is awful which makes me think im ketodic or something urine very concentrated as well..( which I know this means im not drinking enough) I have my next appt with the dr. on sept.14th but dont know if i should call them before or not if this continues.

Julie, I would call your doctor and tell them how you are feeling. It may be normal or you may have a problem only they can help you with. If nothing else it will give you piece of mind. I also have a very queasy stomach....I call my pouch my grouch. It is happy with turkey or chicken....white cheese...and Boca burgers....anything else makes me very sick to my stomach. I attribute most of mine to my gallbladder. I have to have it out and it seems that the fattier the food the more trouble I have with it. I eat what I know that my pouch will be happy with and think that over time that the other things will either agree with me or I will just forget about it! Sue.....down 56.5 since surgery and.....126.5 total!

One of the things my doc told me was: If you do not drink enough fluids, you will likely become nauseated...and it will get worse until you re-hydrate. I've noticed that when I'm not getting all my water in, my urine gets dark and I feel nauseous. The doc also told me that when we are in ketosis..and have a LOT of ketones in our body, it will make us nauseated...he told me to try a little more carbs in my diet when I feel that way. He also gave me suppositories to help on the days when it's really bad. I had a LOTTA pain this past week under my right ribs, had a gall bladder sono (came back normal), and have an endoscopy scheduled for Tuesday. The pain is just about gone now, but I decided to keep the appointment because the doc said that I could possibly have an ulcer....but also because the last couple of days, I feel like my food is not emptying out of my pouch well at all. It has been feeling like there's something sorta stuck in there. It's not painful...but very annoying. September 14th is a way off....I would call your docs office and just ask if you can speak with him/her. They may decide you need to come in earlier...or he/she may be able to help you over the phone. Worth a shot. Good luck! Pam

Hi Julie We are having the same problems. I'm not getting enough protein in because I can't find anything I can tolerate the taste of and I don't get enough fluids in. I did notice, that if I eat more, I can drink more fluids. When my pouch is completely empty, the fluids, including water, just hit the bottom and make me feel sick. I also have gone to chewing ice, a lot of it. Even when my pouch isn't happy with fluids, it will always let me chew ice. Looks like we're both going to have to buckle down and get it done! Julie; It sounds like you are really having a rough time. I am about 2-1/2 months out. It is really important to get in your protein drinks. Have you tried Unjury. I had problems finding something I liked but this works for me. They are on the internet at www.unjury.com. They have chocolate, vanilla, unflavored and just came out with strawberry shorbet. I love the chocolate. It's almost like having 2 chocolate milkshakes a day. Maybe they will send you samples, I don't know. You really do need to call your doctor. September 14th is too long to wait to get the problems solved that you mentioned. Good luck and I hope everything gets better really soon. Gonny C. in VA
