Lisa, Yep I got mine on! There is someone on the boards for Alabama who makes them.....various kinds of bracelets...the neat thing is that they come of the medical alert part....so you can interchange them with other bracelets. I have learned to make my own so that I can change them to match what I have on. I am stuck right now on a antique silver rose bead.....easy and goes with anything! Sue

Just ordered it from a Canadian distributor - wish I knew about the 9.95 one - mine cost me $117! I did get the silver one though.....

I never even thought about wearing one. What do they look like? I will have to check it out on ebay also. Do they just have an alert on them about the surgery?

I've thought about getting one, but haven't yet. Haven't seen one under 50 bucks or with a nice design that I like. If I come across a cute cheap one I will get one. But for now, don't have 1.

I just ordered one from Lindy Garbe in Opelika, AL! [email protected] is her email. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/high_strung2004/my_photos lists pictures for you to view. She has a lot of styles and will custom make or change colors for you. I am only paying $33.50 (including shipping) for the "Jerri" bracelet and tag. Mine will say: Mari Jensen Penicillin Allergy Asthmatic Gastric Bypass PT No Blind NG Tube Mari

I am not wearing one. I spoke to my surgeon about it, and he said I could get one if I wanted to, but he did not think it was necessary. He used to work in an ER, and said the odds of me or someone with me not being able to explain my situation were pretty low. Ultimately, he left it up to me, but I trust his opinion, so I'll save my wrist for a beutiful skinny tennis bracelet. Nicole

Well my friend Linda made one for me pre-op. It is beautiful. And I also bought one from dixiechick (Lindy) on the site. She is reasonable and efficient. I had not problems and you can put six lines on it.

I finally got one for my diabetes and i put gastirc bypass on there as well. I would have never thought about putting the gastric on there but my husband told me to. It makes total sense especially since so many of our ER problems could be related to our surgery.

I am definitely going to get one from Lindy's site. I've seen her bracelets and they are beautiful! The reason I think we should wear one is...you never know when you might be in an accident and become unconscious. If you become unconscious and have to have mechanical ventilation they ALWAYS put an nasogastric tube down. Those things can puncture our pouch easily if the nurse doesnt know about it. Just something to think about. You never know. Connie
