Not to whine, but still slow losses...

Hi Juners! I know we talked about this before, but I got really concerned when I actually gained weight this week. Just wondering how everyone else is doing since we last talked about this, and does anyone have a clue, cuz I'm at a loss. Thanks. I lost about 40 lbs before surgery, but then gained ten in the hospital. This is my weight loss after surgery. You will see the first 2 weeks were great, the next okay, but then it is like downhill from there. I increased my water, protein, and even my calories (by about 100 cal) as everyone said, and increased exercise, and week 8 I did lose 4 lbs. Only to start into the next week, gaining 2 lbs. I did introduce seafood & boca burgers into my diet this week, and noticed I was retaining water (but I don't know why). Whenever I ask my doctor about it, he says to just decrease my calories. At the time he told me that, I was only intaking about 350 calories per day (a few weeks ago). I am now up to about 500 calories per day, as everyone on the board, as well as my physical therapist and trainer, told me to increase my calories and protein. So what I did was add a protein shake per day. This has my protein up to about 85-95 grams per day. I drink about 75 oz of water per day. I usually exercise 4-5 days a week, however I have not this week due to my extremely hectic schedule. I really don't know what else to do, and it is a concern to me, because before surgery, I dieted eating 500-800 calories per day, no exercise, and lost about 4-5 lbs per week. Ofcourse, I could drink more water then. Any body else relate or have suggestions? I also have made sure not to drink w/ meals, or until 1 1/2 hours after. And do not drink after 15 minutes before meals. And I do not eat after 7 pm at night. I'm at a loss. week 1 -17 week 2 -10 week 3 -4 week 4 -4 week 5 -0 week 6 -3 week 7 -1 week 8 -4 week 9 +2 so far (week ends on Wed) (added fish/boca burgers) Thanks ya'll.

I had a one month period that i was only looseing about 1 to 2 lbs even none one week. THEN i lost 7 lbs the next week......and now TOM came and i havent seem more. I think your body is adjusting, your plus two pounds are probably bloa****er retention...happens. I think your doing fine! HAVE you measure yourself ANY???? i bet ur melting inches. MOST weeks you have lost 4 lbs and thats fabulous. I wouldnt stress very much and relax. LISA

Thanks Lisa. Sometimes it takes others to make you see things. I think the gaining of weight kinda freaked me out. And w/ my BMI still being over 50, I guess I thought I would lose more. I guess when I look at my first month, losing 35 lbs, then my second only losing 8 lbs, I was like what!!! I know I am losing inches, cuz of my clothes and my bras especially. I started wearing a size 30/32 and am still in the same size though, (losing 75 lbs total) but a more fitted 30/32. I haven't measured, only cuz it has been so much w/ charting everything else. I thought I would start once I get under 300 lbs. Thanks for the support.

Hi, Kelly Jo, I don't understand how you could still be in the same size clothes after losing 75 Lbs. I have gone from size 30 to size 22-24 since the surgery. I have lost 48 lbs. I haven't tried measuring myself- guess I should. I haven't had a fill yet. Dr. Fielding thought I should wait 2 weeks because he was pleased with my weight loss. My home scale said I lost 42, his scale at the office said only 28. I even set my scale to their weight when I got home the first time so I would weigh the same on both scales but eh who knows who's right. But I'm going this Tues. - Aug. 23rd. for the first fill since the surgery. I have been worried because I have been feeling hungrey this past week. Is this normal? Anyway, stick with it we know it has to work. This was my last straw. My sister is getting married on Sept. 10th and for the first time in 21 years I will be at a weight that I can be proud of- if you can understand what I mean. I mean the gown I got is a 22 and wow that made me happy. It was tight when I got it, then it was big last week and if I have to sew to take it in before the wedding so be it. I will be thrilled to do so. keep your chin up, Marylou

Yep, I am still the same size. I even bought a few new clothes, same. Well, that is great that you will look and feel good for your sister's wedding. Congrats. I would go w/ the weight on your scale.

I agree with Lisa, I am sure you are losing inches. Your chart looks good as far as weight loss though. I rarely lose more than 4lbs a week and most of the time its only 2 or 3 a week. So I wouldnt be too concerned. We have always been told its better to lose slower anyway. I know I am losing inches because my size of clothes keep going down so I try to just go by this. I dont measure myself and only weigh once a week. I love packing away all those bigger clothes..So try to stay positive and keep up the good work..

Thanks Carla! I wish my size of clothes would go down, lol. But you and Lisa are right, I am losing inches, cuz my clothes are loose and I wear a more fitted 30/32 than before. The gain just freaked me out, but for some reason I am retaining fluid. I will try to stay positive. Between the gain and only losing 8 lbs this past month, I was trippin. Hopefully this month will be better.

Kelli Jo, I know it can be frustrating. I still wear the same clothes I did before surgery. They are bigger in areas, but nothing is falling off me yet. I am fat all over and losing my weight all over, so I guess it will be a little longer before I need new clothes. But I have been able to wear a few things I bought last year that didn't fit and fit nicely now. It will come off, just give it time. Lisa

That is good that you can wear those other clothes now. I know that made you feel good. I tried on some 26/28 clothes, but hey were really tight. So I am in limbo for now. LOL, I must look smaller than I am cuz everyone keeps offering me their 22s. I am like, I'll be able to use them soon. I will give it time, and appreciate everyone's support. Thanks Lisa
