Hi all, I have just finally decided that I really do need the support of others who have done WLS. I have so many questions all the time and I am tired of trying to decide if I should call my Dr or if it is normal! One of my MAJOR concerns is.... Does anyone still throw up alot? I do, like 1-2 times a week. I think I may be not chewing well enough. I know I don't drink enough, and I still drink with my meals. Could this be why eating REALLY hurts my stomache? Has anyone found a Slurpee like drink that is OK for us to drink? I HATE the crystal lite variations... I crave them like mad! Let me know, Jaymiem

Hey see we did it on the same day! I have only thrown up a couple times but I chew, chew, and chew some more. I make sure I only eat 1/2 cup and take my time doing it. I think sometimes if you irritate your pouch you need to back off and do liquids till it calms down. That is what I do. I hate crystal lite too. I do mostly water and decaf tea. Hope this helps. HEY JAYMIE... so glad you found us and posted. I am not big on crystal lite to much but i do love the SUGAR FREE koolaide cherry flavor. I bet you can whip that up in a blenda with ice cubes and get your own slurpee consistancy....play around be daring! I dont vomit much...but had a very scary bout this week when i threw up blood and got on the phone right away with my surgeon...i had to back up on foods for a few days and now im on the puree again and fine. I guess i didnt chew my steak and it must have cut me a little inside. MY surgeon wasnt concerned so nor am i.....Really shouldnt have those drinks with your meals i know thats a BIG NO NO!!! GOT to try to follow the rules...u need to fill up your proteins not on the liquids or have the liquids push your foods thru to fast! GOOD LUCK, i know its not easy and its hard. I dont like the no drinking with the meals but i follow it to the T. I want my tool to work to the maximum. BUT do try that sugar free koolaide i found it pre op and still love it! I drink a variety of drinks thru the day my special treat is the hersheys sugar free chocolate milk (even slips in protein for me too). GOOD LUCK! BE WELL LISA 320/233/onderland somewhere

Jaymie, I puke everyday. I am not sure as to why but I have a dr appointment tommorrow so I will let you know. As for the crystal light I dont like it either so I drink mostly water and snapple. I like Lisa's idea of the sugar free koolaid slushie. You should not drink with your meals at all. I know that its really hard but you will wash the food out. Chewing is huge you just have to try and try to chew alot. I know that it gets to the point of disgusting but hey it wont make you sick. I would call your dr to discuss your personal issues. Good luck Stacey

I like the Sugar free Koolaid idea. I just got an shaved ice maker (very inexpensive) and will try the Koolaid on the ice. Should be good by the pool. Ha ha. Sara

Hi Jaymie. Welcome!!!! WE're glad you made it here. I don't have much information to offer on the vomiting thing (i've not vomited-yet) but what i do know is that YOU SHOULD NOT DRINK ANYTHING 1/2 HR BEFORE AND 1/2 HR AFTER MEALS. This is probably the cause to you getting sick, there is too much in the pouch. Do you eat slowly? My husband is normally finishing his second helping of dinner by the time I am finishing my first. hehe. So I take my time and when I feel satisfied (not totally full) I quit eating, becuase you have to give your brain time to catch up to your stomach. I drink a lot of propel water. I like it because it's flavored and I don't have to mix anything up. Well I am glad you posted. We look forward to hearing from you. WElcome!! Colleen

Drinking with meals make me throw up. It didn't used to but as time goes on it does Also drinking with meals can make you over eat. It flushes food out faster and makes more room and can help you to get dumping syndrome with things just beign pushed through. i can take tiny sips of water if meat is too dry.. but just enough to moisten... but even that makes me wasnt to throw up. So i have stopped all together and i have got used to it. OHHH YUMMY if you find a slurpee that works let me know... That shaved ice maker sounds like a good idea. I LOOVE SLURPEES and havn't ever seen a diet one. Paula

Welcome Jaymie!! Glad you decided to join us. It is a big help to have the support of others. I don't vomit much anymore, but I have not revisited anything that made me puke before yet. However, others do more than most. I sure hope that gets better for you. I would stick to the things that don't make you do that, until your pouch feels better.
