Hi Mary Jo, My surgery was 6/15/05. I have tried corn on the cob. I checked with my doctor and he said to either eat just the soft part off the cob or cut off the soft part, don't eat in to the whole kernal as you would usually do. Enjoy. Ginny C. Warrenton, VA

I've had a bit of corn on the cob a couple of times now. What I did was use a knife to cut the corn off the cob (not too deep) and then scraped the cob to get the "cream" of the corn. Then I mixed it all together and had a natural "creamed corn". It was really good and I had no problems with it. I even cut a couple of extra cobs and put it in the freezer - now I can just break off a little chunk (thin layer frozen in a ziplock bag) and nuke it for part of my dinner - YUM! Penny

I read where corn on the cob didn't make a lot of people and their new pouches happy. I have eaten it (eaten = 3-4 bites of corn) and had no trouble. For my family, I cooked corn on the cob recently. ... Here's a recipe or two: CORN SALAD with LIME-CILANTRO DRESSING ON LETTUCE GREENS YIELD: 4 cups (4 - 8 servings) By Mark Hall You can use canned corn for this salad but sweet corn, at the height of the seaon, makes this very colorful salad something special. 2 cups fresh corn kernels (from 2 to 4 ears) ½ teaspoon freshly minced garlic ¼ cup white wine (For WLS patients, just omit the wine and use either water or chicken broth) ¾ cup finely diced red bell pepper ¾ cup finely diced green bell pepper ½ cup finely diced red onion 2 tablespoons freshly chopped cilantro 1 tablespoon freshly chopped parsley 1/8 teaspoon cayenne ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper ½ teaspoon salt Lime-Cilatro Dressing: 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar (FOR WLS patients use maybe 1 tablespoon of water to cut this... just depends on your pouch) 2 teaspoons lime juice Braise the corn with the garlic in the white wine (Or broth or water for WLS) for 5 minutes. When the corn is cooked, toss with the diced peppers and onion. Mix the dressing and toss with the vegetables and seasoning. Serve at room temperature. An alternative is to cook the corn while still on the cob. Boil the corn in broth (it adds a bit of flavor) and add some garlic cloves and bay leaf to the water. Boil the cob until done. Then, clean and scrape the cob down to gather the corn. Place the 2 cups of freshly cut and scraped corn into the skillet with lime juice and braise the corn. Then, toss with the diced peppers and onions. Mix the dressing and toss with the vegetables and seasonings. GARLIC BREAD YIELD: ½ Loaf (8 NON WLS servings) 1 ½ tablespoons freshly minced garlic ¾ cup ho****er 2 packets Butter Buds ½ loaf French bread (4 ounces) 6 tablespoons chopped and seeded fresh tomato (optional) Pinch each freshly chopped rosemary and oregano or basil (optional) Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Bring the garlic and water to a boil. Simmer for 5 to 10 minutes. Turn off the heat and whisk in the Butter Buds. Pour or spoon the garalic stock over the sliced bread. If desired, distribute tomato and herbs over the bread. Wrap the bread in foil and then bake for 10 minutes. Open the foil and broil for about 1 minute more until the desired warmth or crispness.
