Excersice? What do you do?
Hi Deloris,
I'm almost nine weeks out, and as of 8 weeks, I was down 43 lbs. I was excercising from the third day, taking walks around the neighborhood--I'm not going to say it was easy, but I was ambitious. At two weeks, I started doing laps in the pool--very slowly at first. Now I do about 1 1/2 hrs of excercise and another half hour or so of stretching in the pool every day. It gets easier and easier. And I think I look like I lost more than I actually did.
Walking is the key starting point though, you gotta get your body moving. Good luck!

I posted a similar thread few weeks ago when my weight slowed up seems very normal that mid 4o bls of weight loss our body slows up to catch up on the huge loss....i found 3 weeks later it is now dropping off again better.
I dont get much excersise accept my normal routines its been to hot to walk and i am not authroized to go to my gym yet.
GOOD LUCK!

Deloris,
I walk between 4 and 5 miles a day. We are lucky enough to have a walking track nearby....we just have to watch out for foul balls and soccer balls! I started at 1/2 mile and steadily increased my distance. It takes me about 1 hour and 15 minutes to do 5 miles. I am not a power walker I just go at a steady pace. It is so nice to put on headphones and listen to music and walk....the faster the pace of music the faster I walk. If it is too hot, I go early in the morning or wait until the sun starts setting.....a little sweat never hurt me.
There is also a mall nearby that I can walk if the weather is really lousy. I try not to go there because it is such a temptation to shop!
My surgeon doesn't want us to go to the gym until we are 6 months out. He said that too many people get hurt early on....hernia...etc. so they don't recommend it until then!

Good afternoon! I actually enjoy exercising & this is the first time I can say that in my 52 years. I knew that when I received this gift/tool, that I would have to start moving my lazy self. So, I started walking at home & around the block for the 1st 4 weeks. My doctor told me that I could go to the gym & exercise after 5 weeks. I started at the gym after 4 weeks & just did the walking machines, no strenuous exercise of any kind! (Can't think of the proper name at this minute.) I also got on the redundant bike. I do both for about 25 minutes daily. I usually get 4 miles done before I quit. I have been shown how to use some of the weight machines. Just haven't done those yet. I try to go at least 3-4 times a week. However, last week, life got in the way & I only went one time. I feel it now!!
I love to walk. It has become much easier with time and persistences. I walked 5.5 miles at Valley Forge park on Sunday. I haven't done that in five years. I also like the precor machine at my gym. If you have trouble walking I'd try a water workout. It puts much less strain on your feet and legs. Talk to your surgeon or a trainer about what excercise might work for you.

I am starting to do about a mile a day. Excerising has never been one of my strong points but I know have to do it. I have been bad lately and started skipping my walking but I am back on track again. Thank God!! I am at the point where I am going to add another half mile and do a whole mile and a half!! I too was noticing my weight lose was slowing down so back to excerising I go...... Start excersing any way you can and it should help. Good Luck!!
I've been working out at a health club 4-5 times per week for at least 45 min. I've been doing the treadmill, elliptical machine, and some weights for the arms. I found that I'm finally getting addicted to the endorphines and feel so much better afterwards. Now that I'm going back to school, as a teacher, it will be harder. I won't be able to go in the morning anymore and try to get in a new routine of going after school.
