Hi All, I had the Banded RNY on June 8 and am trying to find someone else who had this type of surgery. It is the tradional RNY except that the surgeon added a Silastic Band to the bottom of the new stomach, too leep me fuller longer. He said that the Band wouldn't come into play until I was 2-3 years out, and helps you not to regain. I am find that once I eat, I am not able to eat for at least 5-7 hours later. Anyone else having this "problem". Thanks muchly! Teresa RNY/June 8, 2005 350.4/297/Healthy

Oh my... THIS IS WHAT I WANTED! I had open RNY and only AFTER I had the RNY did I find doctors/surgeons who performed this. Only thing... I didn't know the band was removed after 2-3 years... Hmmm Wish I had that "problem" of not eating so much.

Hi Pat, I think I worded that wrong. They do not ever take out the Silastic Band, unless you have trouble with it, like corrosion, etc. Then it can usually be taken out endoscopically. My surgeons point was that sometimes after 2-3 years, you can start to regain some of the weight you've lost. Then the band "comes into play", in that it helps you stay fuller longer. I didn't quite understand that initially. I think the band is what is preventing me from being able to eat every few hours, instead of every 5-7 hours. It's really hard getting all my nutrition in this way. Thanks for responding. I wish you the very best on your journey! ~hugs~ Teresa RNY/June 8, 2005 350.4/295.0/Healthy
