Is there any other Juners that started out over 350 after surgery? (not that I don't love everyone) Just wondering, and wondering how your doing?

I know what you mean about being curious how others doing that weighed more. I see many posts were people were 245 or 260 and had the surgery and i always feel i can't compare to them because i have so much more to lose. I was 350+ before surgery but lost some. So the day before surgery i was 344. I am down to 290 now and doing well. But i am very sluggish feeling lately. I have to get better about my protein. All of the sudden i just don't want to eat or drink. But i am happy with the weight loss. My two month mark is Monday. My goal is to be 60 lbs down but i am crossing my fingers... as of now i am 54 lbs down. Seemed i was stuck at 40 for so long it is hard to believe i am now at almost 55. Good luck to you all. This is so exciting! Paula

Paula!! Couldn't have said it better myself. Although we are all going thru the same thing, there are not a whole lot of people who started out as Super, Super Obese, which is what I was. At 4-8-05 I was 399, I was 355 when I went in for surgery on 6-22-05, and 365 when I left the hospital. Yep, gained ten lbs in the hospital. I have lost 41 lbs in 7 weeks, but have had one 9 day stall and another 6 day stall. You are doing awesome!!! I sure hope you make your sixty for you 2 month mark. I was hoping to be under 300 for my birthday on Aug 19th (wishful thinking), but looks like that may be a while. I know what you mean about being sluggish. I often feel that way. I am feeling a bit better but I was told due to the low calories, I have lost muscle mass and that is why I am so weak. So I am seeing a physical therapist, who is doing water therapy w/ me, and am also doing some weight machines to strengthen. Wishing you continued success!!!

Hi Kelli Jo! Well, I started out at 338........ and today when I got on the scale it finally moved out of the ugly 300's. Yipeee. So I am at 298 and 40 pounds are gone forever. I have had some stalls too and came home from the hospital weighing more than when I went in too. I get frustrated and think that it is not going fast enough and then I do a reality check and try to figure out when the last time I lost 40 pounds in 7 weeks was. NEVER!!!! I hope you can get there by your birthday too, what a great gift that would be huh! Have a great Friday! Gayle

Thanks Gayle!! That is awesome! I can't wait to be out of the 300s. And you are right, we have done well. The stalls are frustrating though. I know I am losing inches, but I haven't measured, as lol, I really felt like it is just another thing to do. I figure I will start measuring when I get under 300. Congrats on being in the 200s now! Take care.

I started at 340. I am down to 281. It was a great feeling to break the 300 mark. Also it has only been in the last two/three weeks that people have even noticed that I have lost weight - besides people that knew about the surgery and were looking. That was a little disappointing because I have lost 59 pounds. Yikes! That is alot of weight. However, they are noticing now at school and it feels great. I have been really tired and have been getting a lot of bruises. I know my iron is low but the doctor won't start me on iron for another 3 or 4 weeks. All I take now is 2 Flintstones and calcium. I havent been great about following all the rules. I'm not exercising, drinking, or eating enough. I'm not allowed protein shakes yet so not eating is a big deal. I had a good cry this morning because I was not holding up to my part of the deal and just feeling a bit scared that I might fail at this whole thing. I'm going to check into possibly seeing a therapist. However, on a positive note, my rear fits in my computer chair without hurting and I'm able to walk about a mile now. I've had a problem with my calves cramping while I walk the last couple of years due to poor circulation and maybe compartmentalization syndrome or something like that. Anyway, I have been making it a mile with no cramping and can still feel my toes when done. That is a miracle right there! Hang in there guys and keep up the good work. Dawn

Dawn, even though you have had some problems, it looks like you are coming along fine. Wow, you are not doing protein shakes yet. That is a surprise. That is pretty much all I do, for the msot part. Take care and I wish you continued success.

Hi Kelli Jo, I had surgery on June 8 and weighed in at 350.4. As of this morning I weigh 297.4. Down 53 lbs. Yipee. I am pleased with the weight loss but sure do wish I could do better on my eating and protein. I had the Banded RNY and once I eat, I cannot eat for at least 6-8 hours later. I kind of wish I hadn't of had the band added but my surgeon said I will be happy about it when I am 2-3 yrs. out becuase it helps alot with not regaining the weight you've lost. Take care.
