Hair Loss....

Has anyone been experiencing any hair loss? I noticed it in the last couple of days whenever I wash my hair. It is not extreme by any means. I don't think I would have really noticed except for the fact that it is widely talked about on here. Just wondering if it is the normal hair loss that everyone has (WLS or not) or if it is due to the WLS. Shelley

Hi Shelley, I have noticed some hair coming out when I bru**** and when I wa**** Its not too bad though, I can tolerate it if it stays this way. I would hate to have it all fall out.. Luckily my hair is pretty thick so maybe it wont be noticeably thinner..

I haven't noticed more than usual. I thought someone at the MD's office said it happened later, was done by 9 months post and then grew back. I am not sure. Most everyone has assured me that whenever it happens it is usually not at all noticeable to others. Let's hope! Jo

Shelley, I haven't noticed it yet, but I'm checking- as we are beginning to approach that time, (3-4 months out average). Everyone who I talked to who had this problem says it isn't enough for OTHER people to notice, although they notice a lot coming out. Also, it's temporary. The people who begin to lose, in their words, handfuls every day in the shower, have been told that it is due to the drastic weight loss, lack of protein and lack of vitamins. I'm trying to make sure I get in all my protein to try to avoid it. Hopefully, the hair you're losing is the normal amount and we're just thinking about it too much. Katie

Not yet, however, I read a post from a lady who had it coming out by the handfuls and she rec. Silica complex through Puritan's Pride. It has horsetail in it and aids in the hair. Hair loss usually starts 2-3 months after surgery, I ordered mine online right away to get ahead of the game. She said once she started it, she quit losing her hair. Good Luck and I hope this helps! www.puritanspride.com

Thanks for the link I just bought some. Are you already taking the pills? I have PCOS so my hair falls out more than most people and I'm NOT looking forward to the day it starts really falling out. I have full wavy hair so I'm hoping I'm one of the lucky ones ::bites nails::

I am 6 months post surgery and began losing my hair at about 4 months (not everyone does). I lost more than 1/2 of my hair but it has stopped falling out. the new growth has not started yet (I'm waiting impatiently) but hope that it will. Most of the people I know who have had WLS have had their hair grow back. It is noticable to me but not to others. Take your vitamins - Sarah
