Frothing is driving me nuts!
I am 5-1/2 weeks post op (Lap RNY). While I am doing fairly well and I'm happy with my weight loss (42 pounds so far --- YAY!!!), my biggest challenge these days is the almost constant spitting up of what looks like foam and phlegm (gross, yes!). It seems to build up at night and then come up throughout the day...Has anyone else had this problem? My nutritionist says it's temporary, drink warm liquids, and it will go away with time, but if anyone else here has experienced this and found a way to alleviate it, I'd really appreciate hearing from you. Thanx!!
I've got an answer from my P.A. She said the sinus problems may be making it worse, but it's normal. However, she's called in a prescription for Reglin (sp?) to take 30-40 minutes before eating that should break it up and send it on through so that it doesn't come back up. She also thinks it may be worse because I need more liquids. Dry mouth = more saliva produced = frothing.
I'm excited about taking care of this before going back to work. I don't want to be accused of bulimia! I'm not excited about taking another pill, but it's a small price, I think! Maybe something for you to ask about!
Good Luck,
Kristie
I've been doing the frothy throwing up for two weeks now. I was able to eat much better two weeks ago and then all of a sudden I started "throwing up" almost every time I eat but its not food that comes up it that yucky foamy phlegmy stuff. I have a dr appt this am so I am going to ask about it then. I'm getting to the point where eating anything at all isn't worth it. Glad I'm not alone!

Hi. I'm 9 weeks out now and it is just finally stopping! I went thru a vomitting and dry-heaving stage because it was making me SO ill I was nauseous and couldn't eat for weeks. It's still a little white and foamy in the morning, but not much during the day at all now. I drink very very cold ice water, but sometimes I find that it seems to draw out a metallic taste from under my tongue, especially at night. My frothing was so bad I literallly didn't eat for the first 5 weeks after surgery! Everyone promised me it would go away and it does. Try to have patience. I know it's gross. Good luck.
