Stalling after 40 lb loss????
Hi Everyone!
I had my surgery 8 1/2 weeks ago and am happy that I have had a 40# weight loss thus far. But....... I have been at a stall for the last 8 or 9 days. I realize that this is the first of many stalls/plateaus.... However I was wondering how many others have experienced this??
At 8 weeks post op.... how much have you lost??
Thanks! Have a great weekend!
Sandy
Sandy,
Yes I am one who has been there, done that. I had my surgery 1 June, 2005 and weighed 259 post OP. My first after surgery doctor appt. weigh in, I lost 28 pounds. Then I just stayed there. For over a month! Then 8 1/2 weeks PO I had to go to another doctor and I weighed in at 222. So, now it is a total of 38 pounds lost. Because I have fibromyalgia, a muscle deteriorating disease, it is very hard on me to exercise. The one thing I can do that doesn't hurt as much as walking, is riding a bike. So, I ride my bike about 2 1/2 miles a day. Weather permiting. Don't worry, you will lose. Anyway girl, you have lost 2 more pounds than me. HA! Ha! Just do what is best for you and before you know it, the pounds will just start falling off. Good Luck!
God Bless,
Pam
Sandy,
I had my surgery on 6/6/2005 and have lost 43 pounds. I appear to be stuck and have lost nothing for the last week. I work out every day burning between 300-700 calories each day. You are not alone; I am going through this with you as well. I confess to not doing well with my protein intake and have vowed to increase to 60-65 grams so hopefully I will see a downward movement on my scale soon. I wish you the best of luck! Congrats on your weight loss!

my surgery was june 1st and today i am at 41 lbs gone. i have had anywhere from 3-8 days without any weight loss. but i figure this is how my body is going to deal with it right along. i am kinda happy that i do not get very big losses weekly (usually 2-3 lbs), with the exception of the week TOM visits. those weeks have been my "bigger" losses (4-5lbs).
so, let your body have this week to "adjust" and the weight will start dropping before you know it!

Hi Sandy -
I am 8 weeks and 1 day out and I have lost 44 pounds. I am not stalled right now, but I did for about 2 weeks back at the 5-6 weeks so.
Protein
Exercise
Water
Eat 6 times a day.
That's the formula. If you follow it, you will lose, sooner or later. Don't be discouraged. Your body is probably just trying to take a breath and make sure all is well before allowing you to continue losing.
I was 358.6 the morning of my lap band surgery on June 10th and today I weighed in at 297. I cracked 300 on my birthday August 2nd. I've been doing 30-40 minutes a night on the LifeCycle at Level 5. Before that I didn't exercise for 5 years. My initial consultation on May 19th I weighed 364. I'm thrilled with my decision and feel great. I've gone from a 54 waist to a 48 waist. All in almost 2 months from the surgery. My doctor said that I'm above the lap band curve and even ahead of the gastric by-pass curve and that made me feel great. I now believe that I can achieve my goal when before my first meeting with my doctor I had very little hope and little confidence that I could ever lose the amount of weight I needed to lose. I can eat anything I ate before only alot less. I have cut out all bread, pizza, ice cream, cookies, cake except for a little nibble once every blue moon. Simply amazing. I kept a journal on my profile page and need to start updating again. Best of luck to you and all of our fellow Juners!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one!!! I have lost right at 40-41 lbs and seem to be stuck here for the last week or so. It has been driving me nuts! I am trying to get in more water and have started using a treadmill so hoping this will help. I go to the Dr. on Wednesday and am hoping to be back on track by then.
