ppppllllpphh! I'm not losing the weight I want to lose at the rate I expected. I used the obesityhelp.com postop planner to create my expectations. Using the site http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/postopplanner.phtml I used my "day of surgery weight " as my weight... I thought I would lose 20 pounds the first month and 20 pounds the second month as the postop planner indicated I might. NOPE... lost 26 the first month and 11 the second. YECK! I wanna lose MORE! As for losing inches while not losing weight... yeah, yeah, yeah... But I've got about another 68 pounds to lose! POUNDS to lose! Losing inches is nice, but I have so far to go... the pounds better start dropping or very soon those inches won't be reducing anymore either!

Hi Pat, I with you on feeling frustrated! I'm out almost 6 weeks and as of Monday this week I have only lost 23 lbs. I really thought I should be able to lose at least 20/mo for the first 2 months - but that isn't happening for me. As I look at what I'm doing (or not as the case may be) I can see a couple of things that have contributed to my particluar situation. 1. in the 4 1/2 months prior to surger I lost about 45 lbs - so my body has been losing weight at a fast pace for over 6 months now - it just may want to rest and adjust a bit. 2. I was not very good at pushing the liquids up until about 1 1/2 weeks ago - since then I have upped this to a min. of 50 oz a day (goal of 60+ oz daily) I have noticed that I am peeing more and the weight loss has picked up. 3. According to what "my nutritionist" wants I was not getting in enough calories and my body was starting to feel that it was starving and so stopped releasing the "excess". (see my post on "How many calories?" last week) 4. I haven't been exercising enough. This is probably going to be the toughest for me. I'm trying to use my treadmill 5 min a day (I'm REALLY out of shape and have hip, knee, & back problems) and was getting ready to make the plunge with something like curves or the Y - but now I'm having to start 4 weeks of Physical Therapy for a newly developed shoulder problem! UGH!! Anyway - maybe that was more info than you wanted - sorry. My point is that each of us is so different and we really have to look at what we are doing and determine what works and what doesn't work for us. The other thing is to look at how you are feeling - how is your energy level? Are you sleeping better? Things like that. And of course don't forget those inches! Perhaps if you are doing a good exercise program you might just be releasing the fat and gaining muscle (which weighs more than fat)! That would be a GREAT thing! Sorry this is so long - this is just something that has really been on my mind the past couple of weeks as I try and figure out what's going on with me and what I can do to emotionally not get freaked out! LOL Good luck and don't give up - with 68 lbs to lose you'll get there in no time. I've still got 125 or more to go - I know I didn't put it on overnight, so it IS going to take time to come off - even with WLS! Penny 378 high 330 surgery day 307 8/1/05
