Got Beef?
My doc told us as well as the nutritionist that we should avoid beef as it is hard to digest at least until I've hit my three month mark.
Now I am one gal who loved her steak and is craving it again.
Has anyone tried steak, ground beef or roasts since their surgery?
What recipes have you tried that has made digestion easy...
Craving Mad-Cow-Free Steak in Canada,
Silly.
Well lets see, I've had a beef taco, steak and a bite of a hamburger since my surgery and Im doing fine. Im 1 month out. I tell you this it goes down a hell of alot easier than chicken. I have had numerous bad experiences with chicken. Now i don't eat beef everyday but I have tried it & I prefer it.So I would reccomende it but in moderation like once a week.
HI, I've had ground beef in chile, goulash and all by itself. I haven't had any problems with it as long as it is moist and I chew it until it is mu****oo really want to try steak but am afraid. It will be 6 weeks Tuesday since my surgery so I'm thinking a really need to wait a few more weeks at least.
I been eating my beef since one month post op....
I eat lean ground beef for tacos w/ some sour cream in it.
ANd i i have had a few steaks...i by the NY shell steaks a little fatty
but very juicey. I take little nibbles and do fine.

I had steak last week and it wasn't at all as good as I remebered it was before WLS! I know that was the one thing that I was going to miss the most....but I can honestly say that I really don't care if I have steak or not! It went down okay......but it did sit a little heavy in the pouch....or grouch as I call mine!
You can get Boca ground "meat" and use it like hamburger for chili or what have you.....I had a Boca burger on the grill a couple of nights ago and that was great!

I have had no bad reactions to any meat yet. I have made a pot roast in the crockpot and cooked it all day long so it was very moist, that was very good. I have also had very lean hamburger, meatballs and some sliced beef. I made chicken and turkey in cream of mushroom soup and cooked this in the crockpot all day too and that was real tender. I havent tried steak, but am very tempted to try it soon.
My first beef was during the pureed stage, the beef in a can, good with refried beans and cheese. Also have had meatloaf, store bought and homemade, beef from Chinese beef with veggies. Have also had a few strips of fajita meat Ummmmmm
No problems with any of them....but I have had no food issues except one time with some mayo. But I chew, chew, chew and weigh my food whenever I'm at home and take less than I think is 4 oz when out.
Good luck!!!
I just made some swedish meatballs tonight (part ground beef and part sausage) - this was the first time I have really eaten beef. It went down really well - I had about a Tbsp. of thin gravy with it and that helped to keep it moist. I'm 5 1/2 weeks out and had only had one beef "tip" before tonight. I don't have any problem with chicken or fish - just as long as I have something with it (like mashed potatoes) to help it go down. I'm amazed at how far one or two Tbsps. of mashed potatoes can go!
