Fast Food

Some habits are very hard to break - like eating fast food. I'm single and have a VERY bad habit of eating fast food everyday instead of cooking. I'm back to my old ways now that I'm off liquids- I'm supposed to be on pureed/soft food right now. I've been getting pintos and cheese from Taco Bell and even tried a little chicken quesadilla. Mashed potatoes from KFC and Chic-Fil-A chicken sandwich - just the meat part, egg and cheese soft taco from Whataburger - mostly just the inside. I've been out running around alot since I'm still on sumer vacation. Fast food is just too darn easy but has too much fat. I'm sooo hoping that once school starts I'll be on more of a schedule and pack a healthy lunch/snacks. Are you guys eating a lot of fast food? I really hate that I'm eating it at all. Bad Bad habit!

Hey there!! I said just yesterday to a friend that it's more convenient to be fat! HA! Not really, but food wise, fast food is, well... FAST! Here's what I have taken to doing. Make the "better" choice. In other words, go to Wendy's and order a baked potato and a small chili. It will cost you about 2 bucks, fill you up and be healthy for you all at once! You have to make sure you keep your protein up. At Taco Bell, I had a Mexi Melt. It has meat and cheese and I think it's a pretty good choice. I figure, a month or two ago, I would have eaten FOUR of them, so one or 1 1/2 is ok! As long as you see your weight moving, you are ok. But do yourself the favor of being very aware of your protein, etc. We want to come out of this looking good and being HEALTHY!! Ok, good luck and God bless! Rossana

I did the pintos and cheese thing as well. It is protein and pretty tasty. I think it is important to find how to live our new lifestyle in restaraunts as well. There is a seciton on this web site about eatign out. mayeb it will have some sugestions there. I would suggest getting the calorie and protein sheets from the restaraunts. They have them on line as well. It just helps our brain when we see what our fast food choices actually mean when it comes to calories and protein. For instance i got a McDonalds nutrition info sheet. And a quarter pounder had less fat and calories that some of their chicken. Yes it is true. So you need to arm your self with the actual knowledge and not just what we asume. I always assumed chicken had to be less fat. Not so. Just be aware of the options and make the best one, don't assume anything with fast food. If you have a facorite spot check out their nutritional stuff and see which two or three things are the best on the menu that you like and are the best choices so you will know what to get.

Burger King - order it carb friendly, comes in a container with piece of grilled chicken (not fried) tomato and lettuce, order the side salad with the light dressing. IT should take you a 1/2 hour to eat there is so much food. Wendy's - my favourite - regionally they have these BLT chicken salads- they are huge takes two sittings to eat the whole thing - their light calorie honeymustard dressing is good (low sugar too). McDonalds - not so much in the food choice category, but the chicken can be grilled and you can get a side salad with low fat Paul Newmans basalmic vinegrette dressing (less than 3fat grams, yummy). - can be ordered without the bun. KFC- we actually had this today at the mall - apparently they are coming out with the wraps with GRILLED chicken (not the colonel's secret recipe coated on it) but was not available to me in Canada until next month - I did order a H2O and 1 chicken breast - gave the skin to my hubby (boo, hoo) and enjoyed the suckulent tastes of the fine herbs and spices - no reaction or dumping I believe because I did not eat the skin. I think I will be onto taco hell next....looking forward to the heartburn... sincerely Silly (80 lbs down)

I will be six weeks out on Wed and according to my diet can eat all foods starting then. But I too have fallen back into the fast food trap. Although it is bad, my mom helped me to remember that I used to eat a burger with super sized fries and a super sized drink. Sometimes an extra order of fries thrown in there. Now I eat a quarter of a burger minus the bottom bun and 3 french fries. I have found that since I have started eating real food my weight loss has slowed. But our bodies are finally getting calories, and taking in food rather than liquids. The amount of what I used to eat compared to what I eat now, are on total opposite ends of the spectrum. My friends keep wanting to go out to eat and today I was feeling guilty when we went to a Mexican food restaraunt. But I got a child's quesadilla, ate 1/2 of one wedge of quesadilla and 1 tablespoon of beans and rice with a couple of chips. When I filled up the to go box, I realized how much food I wasn't eating rather than how much I was!
